Fighting With the Melody

Summary:

“Stall?” Chaos replied, licking some of the blood from her lips. “Deary, it’s quite funny how you think help is coming.”
“No.” Kyle yelled, faltering in her flight. She stood in the open air, unmoving against Chaos. She trembled, despite the weightlessness. “You’re lying.”
Chaos laughed, brushing one hand through the tangles of her short blonde hair. “I would never lie about something so serious dear. It seems like our little friend had… oh how do you say, an accident before the rest of you arrived,”
“Stop talking,” Kyle grit out, swinging on the Professor. Her aim rang true, fist colliding with the blushed cheek of the villainess. She spun out in the sky, angling her hoverboard to slow her momentum, laughing, like a psychopath.
Chaos grinned, wiping away the trickle of blood from the corner of her mouth with her thumb.
“Oh I hate to be the one to break it to you, except that I don’t, but Mysterion screamed and cried and bled just like the rest of us. Asked for mercy, practically begged for it.” She licked the blood off her thumb, flashing a set of bedroom eyes at her. “Do you understand? He got on his knees and begged for me.”

Chapter 1: Give it up, Mysterion

Chapter Text

She couldn’t look away from the bloodied sidewalk.

Mysterion’s body laid crumpled awkwardly just beyond the payment, glassy violet eyes staring blankly up at the sky, just adjacent to where she was peering out from the roof of a building.

“Mysterion is down,” Call Girl said, hopping down from the rooftop she had been perched on, typing something on one of the holoscreens that popped up around her person as she moved. “I repeat, Mysterion is down. What is your ETA on arrival?”

The voice on the other end of the line grunted, the sounds of battle muted through the static of their comms. “We’re already engaging Chaos, Kite and I need backup! FUCK------!”

The line cut to static, and Wendy cursed, bending down to check for a pulse. Nothing. It tore at her chest, a fierce aching, the sight of a dear friend lying dead against the pavement, but right now, she didn’t have time to mourn. Professor Chaos was on the move, she’d already destroyed three blocks of the city, and was moving quickly, too quickly for someone with half the Freedom Pals on their tail, and Wendy was standing here, kneeling next to the body of her friend.

Get it together Wendy she scolded, there would be time to mourn later, even though her face burned with the weight of unshed tears, and she shook a little, as she used her fingers to close Mysterion’s eyes.

Wendy Testaburger was more of a ‘girl in the chair’ rather than an outright streetfighter like Stan or Craig. She, Bebe, and Doctor Timothy stayed mostly at headquarters, coordinating attacks and sorting through gathered intel. Bebe was their costume designer at heart, and Timmy rarely left the compound, too much of a liability on the battlefield, despite his incredible leadership, physical prowess was not his strong suit.

She had a gun, and a mission, and hell if Wendy was going to let one of her friends die in vain.

“I’m on my way.” She called into her comm, taking off down the alley and towards where the battle was taking place. They’d been at it for hours already, everyone was getting tired, everyone but Chaos it seemed. “Just hold on for a little longer!”

-

“Hey asshole!” Kyle shouted, hovering a few feet in the air. “Come and get me you piece of shit!”

She zoomed off, bobbing and weaving in the sky as Chaos trailed behind her, shooting crackling lances of electricity her way. The mini hoverboard the villainess rode strained to keep up with the speed of her flight, but it kept her distracted, which was all Kyle could hope for right now.

The Freedom Pals were losing, badly , and it was all she could do to keep Professor Chaos occupied.

Her eyes caught a glimpse of Stan, lying prone against the side of a half-collapsed building, a big red spot on the side of his costume, no one was coming to get him, to help him because there was no one. Cyberse was down, Knockout was down, hell, even Mosquito was down, the bug themed nuisance being almost splattered against the pavement like a real mosquito by one of Chaos’s goons. They were running out of supports, and Kyle was running out of steam. If something didn’t change soon, the good guys were going to lose.

A shot clipped her shoulder, and she dropped a few feet with a gasp. It hurt, bad, and surely there was already a blotchy patch of blood welling up from the wound.

“You can’t run forever, little Kite,” Teased Chaos, simpering through bloodied teeth. Earlier in the fight, before he’d been incapacitated, Knockout had taken the shot and given her a good punch to the mouth, in hopes that if it wouldn’t knock her out, it would at least have shut her up. (It did neither, Chaos had only laughed at them, a manic, feral laugh, like she wasn’t all there in the head and pulled him closer, electrocuting the lesbian woman via kiss of death.)

“I don’t have to run forever,” She quipped back, zipping around the sharp corner of a skyscraper, trying to steer them back in the direction of the fight. It wouldn’t do any good to drag Chaos around undamaged parts of the city where she would cause more havoc. “I just have to stall for long enough,”

“Stall?” Chaos replied, licking some of the blood from her lips. Her one eye that wasn’t covered by a visor screen glittered dangerously with unshed electricity, like a plasma ball. “Deary, it’s quite funny how you think help is coming.”

Kyle opened her exposed eye, letting a blast of red laser vision through the hole in her visor. Early on in the fight, in an attempt to incapacitate her, General Disarray had punched a hole through the only thing keeping her heat vision from destroying everything, like Cyclops glasses from the x-men. Fortunately, he had only broken the red crystaglass on one side, so as long as she kept that one eye closed, she wouldn’t hurt anybody with it. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

“Well…. Let’s just say our dear friend Mysterion has been… taken care of, if you know what I mean.” She winked at her, wispy blonde hair whipping in the wind above the city. It pulled strongly at their clothes, and Kyle watched as the villainess teetered wildly on her board, completely careless of what would happen if she fell.

“Oh I hate the be the one to break it to you, except that I don’t , but Mysterion screamed and cried and bled just like the rest of us. Asked for mercy, practically begged for it.” She licked the blood off her thumb, flashing a set of bedroom eyes at her. “Do you understand? He got on his knees and begged for me.”

“You shut your whore mouth!” Kyle cried, lunging forward. She grappled for a moment with the villain, pinning her to the floor of the hover.

Chaos giggled gleefully. “Oh you’re just jealous! Oh! It’s like music to my ears.”

She kicked out of the hold, swiping a leg across Kyle’s side, forcing the redhead off the board, and back into the open air.

Grinning a bloody grin, Chaos swung out, throwing a handful of something metal and something sharp, and it was all Kyle could do to block the strikes, hissing when the burrs stung her skin, scraping open wounds and tears at her clothes. Her armor was sheer, if it could even be called armor in the first place, in order for her to be able to make lift off, which is why she was a long range fighter, clearly not meant to be doing hand-to-hand combat with one of the most, if not the most, dangerous villains in the world. And Chaos knew this, if her grin was anything to go by.

She was cunning, so much so that she could give Cartman a run for his money, and far more intelligent than Kyle’s teammates gave her credit for.

Professor Chaos liked to play the dumb bitch, but Kyle could see right through her disguise.

“Aw, did that hurt?” She pouted, licking the blood from her broken nose. It had to have been broken, Kyle had elbowed her as hard as she could before getting wiped out. She may have been lighter than air, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t pack a punch when she needed to. “Good.”

“You’re lucky I don’t kill,” Kyle sneered, one concealed eye flashing behind her red visor. The longer the battle went on, the more tempting it was to blast Chaos right off the face of the planet.

“Well you’re lucky I do,” Chaos shot right back, swinging out with a spear of electricity.

The human Kite barely managed to dodge, thin spindling fingers of light reaching towards her, making her hair frizz up, stand on end.

She turned back to the villain, but it was too late.

“Say hi to him for me in the afterlife, alright sweetie?” Before striking out to black.

Karen McCormick wakes up to the sound of her ticking clock.

Notes:

I just swapped Karen and Kenny's names bc I like it better that way instead of using some other version of their names. So fem kenny is karen who has a younger brother instead of a younger sister named kenny, instead of karen. does that make sense?
