"They say it's the longest day of the year today," Miyako said aloud, looking out the window, seeing the twilight of morning pass.
With a cup of coffee in hand, she sat down at the kitchen table, with Riko sitting across from her.
"Is that right?" Riko looked up from her planner, with Miyako nodding. She then took a sip of her own cup of coffee, the caffeine very necessary to get through the day.
"No wonder it feels that way, with so much to do now."
"Yup, sure feels that way." Miyako let out a laugh, and then she took another sip, almost thoughtful, and then she snapped her fingers.
She then leaned forward to get Riko's attention, who looked at her, quite amused.
"What?" Riko asked, though she had an inkling of what Miyako was going to say next.
"I have an idea! Once you're done with whatever we have to do today, we should celebrate the summer solstice, just the two of us."
Miyako's smile grew as Riko blinked and smiled back at her.
"That sounds good to me." She replied, nodding, and then jotted down a reminder in her planner.
"I don't know what exactly, but we'll figure it out, Riko, together." Miyako affirmed, her excitement growing.
Riko nodded again, her early tiredness lifting. "Sounds good to me, Miyako."
The sun began to shine outside the window, with the day just beginning.
