Chapter Text
Merlin ran through the forest after getting enough herb for the night, he did not want to be late for Gaius' dinner. His head was asleep when he tripped over a stump.
"Fuck."
Well, that definitely ruined the herb he so delicately picked for Gaius.
"Good Morning, Merlin." The voice rings into Merlin's ear as the landscape slows down. Merlin sensed the magic and turned around to see a man around his age. He had dark hair and common clothes. Merlin sensed some magic inside him, but what was he? He never felt this energy inside a human. Was he a changeling perhaps?
"It's afternoon." Of course, the first thing popped into Merlin's head. "I mean, Who are you, how do you know my name?"
"Right sorry, Emrys then." The man corrected himself. He seemed like a druid the more Merlin looked at him. "What do you want? Are you a druid?"
"Maybe, but I am more than just magic. What you do today may change the fate of Camelot forever. Some call me, Father of all fates"
"What do you mean? I am doing perfectly fine, protecting Arthur and Camelot's future and I am working on returning the magic."
"Are you though?"
"I am working on it!"
Right, that was his destiny, to bring magic back to Camelot. But he has never heard of Father of all fates. Does that mean he has created each of every fate?"
"If you really are the Father of all fates." Merlin continued, forgetting about Gaius' great feast. "Then why wouldn't you create a perfect world where no one suffered."
"I am not all-powerful, Merlin. But I do help people go to the path that benefits everyone the most. And most important, you need to listen to yourself, do what you think is right, don't let your decision be wavered by other people. Because that is how you will fail in the future."
With that, he disappeared as if he was a ghost. But not before uttering the words "Choose wisely."
