Work Text:

Wendy had finally managed to drag her heavy suitcase to her and Bebe’s room upstairs meaning she could relax on their queen-sized bed. Bebe insisted on going for a drive with Craig and Tweek somewhere, so only she and the four boys were home.

Normally, she’d unpack everything and get all her stuff organised, but that morning had been hectic and absolutely exhausting—she needed to just sit down and scroll on her phone for at least a couple of hours.

Though as she got into a comfortable position, getting herself all snug in the bed sheets, a certain blondie popped his head through the door with his usual toothy smile. “Hey Wends”

“Hey Ken” She smiled back, yet tone very much deflated. “Hey, by the way, fyi, the room you’re sharing with Cartman is down the hall, thanks” She narrowed her eyes at the boy as he let himself in.

He paced long steps towards her, “Ah, come on” He jumped on the bed beside her, stretching out every limb he could like a cat. Wendy pushed him off of her with a chuckle, “Ken! Personal space!”

Kenny winked at her like the tease he’s always been, “You know you love me Wends” He’d say that whenever he was pressing someone’s buttons— that loveable rascal. A pest you can’t get rid of.

The girl rolled her eyes accompanied by a playful smile, “Yeah yeah whatever, why are you bothering me?”

He put his hands up in fake defeat, “Way to get straight to the point” Wendy crossed her arms, “I just wanted to speak to you about..” He leaned closer and put his hand next to his mouth to make sure his next words were in a whisper, “Something.., confidential”

Wendy looked amused by this, “oh really? Do you even know what the word “confidential” means?” She raised an eyebrow at him, only to get a blank stare from the ruffled blonde.

“Wendy, this isn’t the time for you to be smart, I’m bein’ serious here” His face fell into a serious expression, one Wendy never really saw on Kenny. She raised her eyebrows, slightly taken back. “Oh okay.. what is it?”

He took a deep breath, for whatever reason. Wendy was sceptical about what he was gonna deem as “confidentially serious”, he was known to amp up little things.

“You know Stan and Kyle?”

“Yeah?”

“We need to get them to kiss. Before Christmas”

She wasn’t sure how to react.., he really burst into her room just to discuss.. Stan and Kyle’s completely private relationship life? And Kenny looked dead serious too. He blinked at her while chewing his bottom lip, which already seemed pretty torn up. Wendy leaned back into her pillow and looked around the room for a moment.

“Right.. so..” She squinted her eyes and looked back at him, “why are you asking me?”

“Oh come on Wends! You know Stan better than anyone else does, and if I ask Cartman he’s gonna fuck it all up! I need someone who’s smart and who has good intentions!” He began pleading, Wendy just didn’t understand exactly why he would care so much about whether they kissed or not.

It had been extremely obvious for years how much Stan and Kyle wanted to kiss each other. The longing glances, the constant touching between them, how they’d always just get a little closer to each other and giggle about their inside jokes.

Wendy was not oblivious to that— in fact, she would argue she was the first one to notice. She did date one of them once. So why force them into it? And why not let them find out naturally?

She sighed at his desperation, “Okay, okay— but can I ask why you’re on your knees to see them smooch?”

The boy averted her eyes, suddenly a bit bashful. “Ah well, yknow, since they’ve been pining over each other for so long.., I thought why not give this as a Christmas present?”

She continued to give him a sceptical brow, “You mean a kiss? Between them? How does that even work?”

“Look, I don’t know, but they’ll be so happy if they end up together by the end of this trip! And I can’t keep listening to Kyle’s gay ass rants anymore, and I think everyone is sick of seeing those two prance around each other”

Wendy saw the genuine care in Kenny’s eyes, he really did just want his closest friends to be happy. And honestly, she agreed. Everyone except them knew about their undying love for each other, may as well get it over with at Christmas time.

Plus, what could go wrong? They were away on holidays, no parental supervision and Stan and Kyle were staying in the same bed for three nights! It was the perfect excuse.

She smiled at him, “Alright, I’ll help you out, Ken”

Kenny’s eyes lit up like a puppy as he put a fist in the air with a “YAHOO!”, which ended with him tumbling onto his back.

Wendy laughed at his enthusiastic action of celebration and hovered her head over him, “So, what’s the plan?”

***

Kenny walked out of Wendy and Bebe’s room with a proud smile on his face. He was excited for the coming few days.., and what would happen between his two favourite oblivious friends. He felt pride swarm through his chest as he danced through the hallway like a jolly elf.

Cartman’s mean eye caught him from their room, “Stop dancing like a fag, Kinny!”

Kenny turned his head towards him, “Shut the fuck up Cartman!” He sang rather happily. He was over the moon for his best friends.

The young boy had always been invested in their relationship. It makes sense— they are the two closest people to him. Ever since he could remember, he’d been the messenger of sorts— the neutral party. The one who knows everything that's happening on both sides.

He’s been there for Kyle’s gay ranting since the ripe age of 8 years old and as for Stan, he’s been the witness of one too many throw-ups caused by the redhead.

And for years, he’s been trying to convince these two losers in love to just CONFESS. But each time, every attempt, he gets shut down with a breakdown or two many excuses and reasons as to why, “he’d never like me back” and “he’s in love with Wendy” and “he only sees me as a best friend”.

So now.., Kenny thinks jumping straight to the kiss would be a better option. Skip that step of messy emotional talks, just get them to kiss and then they’ll surely shut up and date!
Even just the other day, as everyone was getting ready to go on the trip to the holiday house, Kenny sat down with Kyle as he was packing his bag. “When are you going to confess?” Kenny started with. Turns out, he probably should’ve taken a slower approach to the subject.

“Would you stop asking me that, Ken! Stan doesn’t like me that way!” Kenny shook his head at the statement, how dare he question him. Though it wasn’t surprising, he’d always been stubborn.

“I’m just saying, Kyle.. it’s the most wonderful time of the year! You could get yourself a mistletoe and yknow.. get a taste of what you’ve been missing out on for years” He winked slyly.

And of course, Kyle didn’t budge an inch. “No! Just.. I’m trying to move on” his face said otherwise, having been turned completely red, rivalling his hair. It was then Kenny decided; This Christmas, I’ll make it my mission to get them to realise!

And now, there was no turning back. Especially when Wendy was on his side. Someone who possessed all the brains to simply get two people to get it on.

As Kenny was on his way down the stairs, he passed by a certain raven-head and redhead’s room. The door was open only slightly, showing a slither of the contents of the room. With a giddy smile, he made his way to peek through the gap, watching the tooth-rotting-inducing scene of Stan and Kyle napping together. In each other’s arms.

Kenny wasn’t going to fail in his plan.

*****

Attempt 1 : Mistletoe

Of course, the first thing to think of is the classic mistletoe. You can’t go wrong with the symbol of two lovers kissing under Christmas lights, a simple, small, yet powerful plant that could bring two people together in such a wonderful way.

Fortunately, Wendy’s family is quite the festive kind. Traditionally American with dozens of decorations, a massive Christmas tree and all the necessary bits and pieces that would make any home a Christmas wonderland. Including a mistletoe.

Wendy managed to find one in a box hidden within their attic, unused for the past decade. It was small, a bit dingy even, but it was still a mistletoe nevertheless!

The plan Kenny and Wendy agreed on was to invite them to watch some cheesy Christmas romcom and when the time is right.., they’d both leave so Kenny could get behind the couch and dangle the mistletoe between them so they’d be able to get their kiss in private. (Private meaning they wouldn’t be aware Wendy and Kenny would be watching the whole time)

Everyone was tired so the night would be fairly chill and who doesn’t love a good Christmas romcom at this time of year?

“So, you guys interested in watching a Christmas movie with me and Wends?” Kenny propped his arm on the kitchen bench as Kyle and Stan came in from upstairs.

They shared a look before Kyle crossed his arms hastily, similar to how Wendy had done earlier. “What type of Christmas movie?” He asked with a particular look in his eye.., one that meant ’you know I’m going to hate every movie you suggest’. Kenny took advantage of this.

Not only was he following the plan, he’d be able to tease Kyle as well. Bonus! “Oh, just a good ol’ romcom!” He exclaimed with a swing of the arm.

Kyle grimaced hard. Stan tried not to laugh at his best friend’s expression.
“Oh come on Ky, can’t be that bad. Let’s just watch one for shits and giggles” Stan tried to reason with the redhead, nudging him in his side.

He couldn’t contain an eye roll, but he ended up agreeing to the suggestion in the end.

The conversation was interrupted as the front door opened, Bebe walking in with two shopping bags as Craig and Tweek followed behind her. They were all shaking in their snow boots, small piles of snow covering their heads and shoulders.

“Hey everyone! We’re back from the drive!” The bubbly girl called out, Wendy swinging her attention towards her best friend,

“Hey Bebe! How was it? You guys look like you’re freezing” Bebe ripped her scarf off and placed her bags on the kitchen counter. Craig and Tweek went straight upstairs, none bothered to greet anyone.

“Yeah, it was so goddamn cold out there, snowing like crazy too! But we ended up buying some stuff to bake cookies! To get into the Christmas spirit, yknow?” She smiled big and bright, Wendy smiling back with enthusiasm.

Stan turned his attention to the conversation, and so did Kenny. “Cookies? No way, that’s so cool Bee! Tweek and Craig gonna help out?” Stan asked and Wendy swore she could see a tail wagging.

Bebe nodded and clapped excitedly, “Yeah! Apparently, Tweek is super good at baking so he’s gonna teach me how to do stuff! What are you guys doing?”

“We’re just about to put on an epic Christmas romcom” Kenny boasted, shooting a glance at Kyle who, still, didn’t look impressed. He looked very much, not impressed. (Especially for someone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas, but hey, he’s there for Stan)

“Oh my god! That’s such a great idea, Ken!! Wait— we should totally put on Mariah Carey!!” Bebe squealed at the name, her face lighting up.

Kyle looked like he wanted to kill himself. ’Oh god…’

***

The TV was set up, the lights were dimmed and everyone had placed themselves on the extended couch. Kenny and Wendy sat comfortably on one side, while Stan and Kyle sat next to each other on the other.

There was no hiding it, the blonde could spot intertwined hands and a shared blanket from the corner of his eye.

Before they started the movie, Kenny turned to Wendy and they shared a small nod as if they were mutually saying ’plan is in action.’

Ken whipped out the remote and pressed the button—- the first scenes of the movie beginning to roll. The boy wasn’t even really paying attention, he mainly had his eyes on the prize, Stan and Kyle. He didn’t care about the movie, and he likes a good romcom as much as the next guy does.

Eventually, an hour went by, and the two boys kept their position— close and touching. Stan basically had his head dug into the pocket of Kyle’s neck, both boys’ skin flushed from the contact. But it was normal for them, it was considered habit and a must for their relationship.

Kenny bet they didn’t know that he noticed whenever they whispered a joke into the other’s ear and they’d lightly chuckle to themselves— he saw it all. But now was the time for the plan to really commence. He remembered this was the part both he and Wendy needed to be out of the picture.

The messy-haired boy had the mistletoe in his pocket, stashed away for the moment it was needed. Wendy sprang to her role first, “Hey guys, just need to go to the bathroom, I’ll be back in a sec” They both gave a small “okay” of acknowledgement and went back to watching the movie.

For someone who hates romcoms with a passion, Kyle was surely enjoying himself, Kenny thought. Then a couple of moments later (to not look suspicious, Wendy reasoned) Kenny abruptly stood up, “I gotta go too” Stan and Kyle gave him a weird look but didn’t question it further.

After being convinced he wasn’t being suspicious, Kenny tiptoed very carefully behind the couch. Hopefully, they wouldn’t see him or notice the literal person that was just behind them. It would be very awkward to explain the situation.

The blonde turned his head behind him, Wendy peeking through the bathroom and giving him a thumbs up.

Slowly, Kenny lifted up the mistletoe between the two boys. He watched the screen and like they’d perfectly timed, it was coming up to the scene where the main couple would seal their love story with a satisfying and sweet kiss. Kyle snuck a glance at Stan, and so did Stan to Kyle. Both oblivious to the fact, as usual.

Kenny’s arm was officially up and holding the sacred plant. A single moment later, the redhead looked over his shoulder to see the mistletoe slightly above them. Stan hadn’t noticed, his eyes still on the screen in front of him. For a split second, Kenny locked eyes with a very confused and even sort’ve flustered Kyle, before he let out an ear-bleeding sneeze.

”ACHOO!”

A dark red flush coated Kyle’s face as he sunk into the couch, while Stan wasn’t aware of what was going on— being the slow guy he is. Then he turned to a Kenny crouched on the floor, mistletoe dropped beside him. “Oh hey Ken, whatcha doing behind the couch?”

Kyle gaped at his friend with wide eyes. Then his gaze shifted towards Kenny, eyebrows furrowed and face scrunched up in a scowl. Fuck.

A shrill voice came from the kitchen, “Cookies are done!” Stan dashed from the couch.

Attempt 2 : Spin the bottle

The first attempt didn’t exactly.., Go to plan. But as you’d expect from a straight-A student, Wendy had a backup plan and Kenny was not giving up now! Though Kyle seemed pretty pissed off from the shit he’d tried to pull the first night, it was now night two and everyone was gathered in the living room for some casual hanging out.

As to not put Kenny in a suspicious position, one that Kyle would’ve definitely picked up on, Wendy was the one to suggest they play the game everybody plays as soon as they turn 16. Spin the bottle.

Yes, even if they were very much not in the age range for that game anymore, Bebe was still a big fan and would surely drag everyone else into playing it. And as for getting the bottle to land on both Stan and Kyle? They’d just hope luck was on their side.

At least it’d give them the opportunity without straight-up smashing their faces together.

“Let’s play spin the bottle! Christmas edition” Wendy looked around the room, not seeing many faces seeming very enthusiastic about the idea.

“Spin the bottle? We haven’t played that since uni” Kyle said as he sat on the couch, arms crossed as always. Unlike Bebe, he was distasteful for the game. Only gave him bad memories.

“What exactly is the Christmas edition?” Craig asked, snagging another cookie from the tray on the counter. Tweek was munching on one as well.

“Guys!! We totally should, it’ll be so fun!!” Bebe was quick to comply, already grabbing a conveniently nearby empty bottle for them to use.

Wendy shrugged at Craig’s question, she wasn’t exactly sure. “Sure, why not? Also, where’s Cartman?” Stan turned his head left to right trying to spot the bigger boy.

“Who cares?” Kyle spat bitterly, along with an eye roll. Someone should keep track of how many times Kyle rolls his eyes, Kenny thought. “Eh, I guess”

“I’m here motherfuckers!” Cartman boomed suddenly, prancing into the living room from the bathroom. No one looked thrilled about the fact, “Great, he probably clogged the toilet” Craig complained with his deadpan tone.

Tweek twitched and frowned, “Ahh seriously?!”

A smug, shit-eating grin sprang onto his lips, “You dumbasses were the ones who invited me”

“Why was he invited, Wends?” Bebe turned over to Wendy who looked at her dead serious,

“He bribed me with 20 bucks”

***

“Who’s gonna do the honours?” Bebe smiled mischievously, darting her eyes to each person in the circle. No one offered to do it, surprisingly enough. “Alrighty! I’ll do the first hit” She said, rubbing her hands together.

Kenny had his hands clasping onto his feet in anticipation, sitting like a toddler at storytime. Kyle couldn’t look any more disinterested and everyone else was pretty content to participate. ..And Cartman was there too, probably plotting something horrendous so at least one person would end up either dying or giving him money.

The blonde put her finger to the bottle and off it went, spinning in a rapid blur. Kenny prayed it would land on the loverboys, and so did Wendy. Not that the spin was in any way calculated, but there’s always a chance.

Once it stopped spinning, everyone turned to the people the bottle had chosen. Craig and Bebe. Nowhere near Kyle or Stan. A playful grin tugged at the girl’s lips while Craig’s face remained in its neutrally annoyed state.

“Alright Tucker, you ready for a smooch?” He stuck up the good ol’ middle finger before reluctantly crawling up to her.

Tweek looked at him with his mouth wide open, seeming horrified by what was happening in front of him. Kenny bit back a laugh, “Oooh, Tweek! Bebe’s stealing your man!”

Wendy shook her head with a teasing smile, “What a homewrecker”

Tweek shot a glare at Kenny with a pouty huff. It was all in good fun of course, it was merely harmless. Craig put his lips against Bebe’s for half a second, it was barely even a peck.

“Come on Craig, what was that? Don’t be shy!” Stan snickered at the boy, Craig quickly went back to his spot next to his boyfriend. He blinked blankly at the comments, “I’m done”

“Okay, who’s next?” Bebe said competitively, spin the bottle had always brought out the party girl in her.

***

A couple of rounds had gone by, Stan and Kenny kissed (which Kyle took quite personally), Bebe and Wendy kissed and finally Kyle and Tweek kissed (Stan was laughing.., but his eyes looked pained)

So now Kenny was worriedly looking over at Wendy, afraid this would lead nowhere. The bottle just didn’t want to follow along and Kyle was getting antsy and was probably gonna head off to sleep soon. And by default, Stan would be getting tired as well.

Wendy intervened Bebe as she was just about to spin another turn, “Why don’t I spin it this time, Bee?”

She happily nodded and passed the bottle over to her, “Sure, Wends! Go ahead!”

The black-haired girl held the bottle in her hand and Kenny could feel the eyebrow raise and cynical gaze from Kyle at the change. It shouldn’t matter whatsoever, but he was always one to question almost everything.

Wendy spun the glass, firm and fast. A brief moment before, she stared intently at where Stan and Kyle were placed– Kenny suspected she’d calculated for the perfect spin so it would land where she wanted.

But alas, she was slightly off. It spun, and spun, and spun, until— “Oh FUCK NO! I’m not kissing that fatass–” Wendy’s face went pale and Kenny wasn’t sure whether to start laughing or crying.

The bottle had Kyle on one end, and Cartman on the other. The fatty’s first kiss that night. Actually— His first kiss in his life. He smirked large and snobby as Kyle backed away and frowned immensely at him.

Stan also didn’t look too happy about this. “Okay, maybe we should skip this one–” He tried to laugh it off, but no humour was heard in his voice.

“Hey! Everyone else got a kiss, why can’t I get one? C’mon, Kahl, com’ere!” He taunted as he slowly crept closer and closer, slithering Kyle’s way as if he were a snake with an eye on its prey.

FUCK OFF! Get THE FUCK away from me!” The redhead yelled, trying to kick him away. Everyone else stared in terror and suddenly Wendy felt a very intense rush of guilt wash over her.

Wendy gave Kenny a look, ’Kyle’s gonna fucking kill us if he knows’

He gave a look back, his hand covering his mouth hiding his giggles. ’yeah’

Attempt 3 : Eggnog

After the ‘Cartman incident’, Kyle got up and hurried upstairs in a rage. Stan obviously followed behind him, making sure his super best friend was okay (and to supply as an extra blanket, Kenny guessed)

And so that left the night unsuccessful. Kenny had been failing miserably. ..But! That didn’t mean he was giving up! Not after over ten years of pining and no communication between his best friends, he needed this to happen. It would make them and everyone else so much happier.

So what was plan C? Well, after everyone went up to bed, Wendy went into his and Cartman’s room to talk to him about what had happened. She said how bad she felt and apologised for how badly the plan worked.

But after that, they didn’t discuss anything else. Kenny had formed a new plan of his own, without the girl genius. And what did he come up with? Get them to drink until they open up. Or make out. Either or.

Now, this was probably risky and even a.. Bad idea. Kyle hates drinking and Stan has had a bad relationship with alcohol, but he thought if he played his cards right things would go smoothly. Obviously.

Kenny sprinted into the kitchen, running into an unaware and humming Tweek. “EEK! Ah– Kenny, it’s you! Jesus.. You scared me..” He jumped back, almost spilling the carton he was holding everywhere.

“Sorry Tweeks! Say– whatcha’ prepping?” His eyes drifted to the eight cups on the counter, all except one filled with a milk-like substance. Kenny’s family never really celebrated nor took part in traditional Christmas activities, so most were still new to him.

Tweek smiled at the blonde, pouring the rest of the liquid into the cup. “Eggnog..! Bebe suggested it earlier, so I thought I could try and m-make some for everyone” He focused on not causing any spills, but ultimately jerked his head a bit.

“Sounds good Tweeks! Looking forward to it..! Also, you think it’d be a good idea if we get the fire going at the fireplace?”

The spiked blonde hummed for a second, “Hmm, ask Wendy, I-I think it’d be a good idea though!” He went to the fridge to grab some other ingredients. Kenny observed the drinks— this could work.

Maybe in the vulnerable hours of the night, Stan and Kyle would finally share a passionate kiss. Even if it was under the influence, they’d work it out. He probably shouldn’t tell Wendy about this though.

***

The fire roared and crackled, heat swarming from the fireplace. “Alright, fire is done and going” Kyle smiled at the sight, his face covered in an orange glow.

Stan dreamily admired from behind. From the angle he was sitting at, he could stare at his friend’s warm and sparkling eyes. “Alright, everyone! Karaoke is ready to go!” Bebe proudly placed her hands on her hips.

Kyle turned back, “Are we seriously still doing karaoke? The neighbours are definitely gonna call the cops on us”

“For what? Our beautiful singing? Live a little, Kyle! Christmas ain’t Christmas without the music” Kenny said with a cheesy grin. The redhead blinked and sighed, there was no getting out of this.

The TV was turned on and logged into YouTube, displaying a karaoke playlist for all the Christmas classics. The blonde-haired girl put her very own microphone to her lips. “Where’d you get that Bee?” Wendy asked, being returned with a “Don’t worry bout’ it”

After a minute or so, Tweek and Craig came into the living room with everyone else, both holding four cups. “You made eggnog? What’d you add to it?” Stan asked the fidgety boy.

“Just a b-bit of rum, not much though”

“Alright, since everyone is here, (except for Cartman), why don’t we get the night started?” Bebe grabbed a glass and raised it into the air with festive energy.

Quickly, Kenny grabbed two, obviously random, glasses and handed them to Stan and Kyle. “Here you go guys” He made sure to give them a smile. Stan didn’t seem to question it, while Kyle was more hesitant.

***

Kenny was surprised no one had noticed the drunk Stan roaming in the room. He was sitting on the arm of the couch, just watching from the sideline. Wendy and Bebe were up at the front singing a duet, Baby It’s Cold Outside he believed, while Tweek and Craig were watching, Tweek showing his support as Craig just watched.

And Kyle, well, he only focussed on Stan. It was almost shocking how little he paid attention to anything else. At that moment, Stan had curled up into a little ball in Kyle’s lap. His face was in a permanent flush, while the redhead’s had also gone rosy.

He shot a glance at Stan's cup and god— he’d drunk a lot of it. It was a big glass, and he’d definitely drunk the most out of anyone in the room. That wasn’t great. Especially with the extra alcohol Kenny had poured into it before.

Kyle wasn’t even close to drinking half of his cup— he’d only taken at least two sips. He probably realised what was added, since it didn’t seem like was enjoying it all too much.

Kyyylleee~~” Stan slurred, almost like he was a purring cat in his owner’s touch. Kyle squinted at the boy, very noticeably cringing at his tone.

“Are you.. Fucking drunk?” Kyle whispered to him, eyebrows shooting up in concern. All the other did was nuzzle closer and deeper into his chest, a stretched and doughy smile showing.

“I love youuuu.. So so much… hmmm.. You’re so warm Ky..” Words and hums fell from his tongue and Kyle tensed up, toes curling and cheeks blushing harder. “Yup, you are definitely drunk”

The song came to an end and the two girls ended up huffing and puffing with big grins on their faces. “That was so good Wends! You totally suited the guy” Her best friend playfully rolled her eyes and handed the microphone back to her, “Yeah yeah, thanks Bee”

“Who wants to go next?”

“Ooo, Craig, Craig! Let’s d-do a duet together..!” Tweek offered a shining smile to his boyfriend, who couldn’t resist. Craig smiled small but sweetly, “Sure honey”

Kenny turned to face Kyle who still had a drunk Stan curled up on him, “I think Stan and I need to go upstairs” Shit. There goes plan C.

“You guys sure? What’s up?” Wendy questioned with a faintly worried face.

“Yeah, we haven’t even gotten up to Mariah Carey’s songs yet!”

Kyle had his eyes on Stan, who was still clinging to him very dearly. “I think Stan is.. A bit tipsy”

“Tipsy? How much rum did you add, Tweek?” Wendy looked to Tweek who yelped from the direct attention. “N-not much, I swear! It was only a tiny portion” Kenny started to think that maybe.. This wasn’t a good idea to begin with.

The redhead sighed sharply, “Look I don’t know— but he’s clearly drunk. I think it’s better if I put him to bed so he can rest, and hopefully not throw up everywhere”

“Oh god, yeah– Mum won’t be happy with a toilet that stinks of puke,” Wendy lightly chuckled humorlessly.

Kyle got up, Stan whining at the movement. “Hmm, Kyyyllee!! I don’t want you to gooo…!!” He tried clawing at his sleeves.

Still, with a reddened face, Kyle got a grip on his friend before dragging him upstairs, giving goodnights to everyone as he did.

“Well that was weird” Bebe commented before scrolling through the playlist to the next song. Kenny hoped he hadn’t just ruined Christmas Eve for some stupid kiss.

*****

Christmas morning rolled around. The sun hit the window glass, light stretching out on the snow outside. It glittered like sequins and the sky was painted a wonderful baby blue. Birds chirped and all seemed peaceful and safe.

Kyle was the first one to open his eyes. He did so from the shine peeking through the blinds, and soon he was exposed to Stan’s face being so close to his. It startled him, but not enough for him to move from his comfy position.

Instead, he took his time to mentally note his features and the details of his face. From his eyelashes to his slightly toned cheeks and thin lips. He could hear tiny, yet adorable snores from the boy next to him. His heart beat strongly at a consistent pace, but all held still.

Then, blue eyes were staring at him. He almost shrieked from the sudden eye contact— but he managed to stay shut and return it with wide-awake green eyes. “Good mornin’..” Stan mumbled with a growing smile.

Kyle was about to melt. He bit his lip and grinned wide back, “Good morning Stan.. how are you feeling?” He asked quietly, keeping in mind his ears were probably sensitive at the moment.

Stan let out a painful moan and dug his head into his pillow– “headache… shitty ass headache” He said, voice muffled. Kyle couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle.

Waking up like this.. As if the bed was their own. As if they woke up to one another every morning. The thought was running through the redhead’s mind, his face heating up, embarrassingly enough.

But suddenly, Stan turned his head to face Kyle and propped his forehead against his. He shuffled closer and watched him through his eyelashes. Kyle was caught on his own breath but didn’t oppose what was happening.

“I love you, Kyle” His words were hushed, but Kyle couldn’t hear or process anything else. His stomach twisted and turned, and out of the blue the longing that had built up started bubbling to the surface.

This is the best fucking gift I could ever ask for. Kyle mentally thought, ignoring the stupidity and cheesiness of it. He was too mesmerised by the boy in front of him for that.

“I love you too–” He said, before breathing into a kiss. Stan closed the distance between them, both finally being able to feel their lips against each other. At first, it was slow and gentle, the touch fragile– but it became messier and slightly rough.

Kyle could feel his heart pounding now, heat pouring through every limb. The sheets enveloped them as they embraced, their bodies went numb with blissful fuzziness.

Then they drifted apart, lips parted and faces mutually flushed a bright red. They stared at each other with wide eyes and bewildered expressions, until Stan spoke first. “Woah dude”

Kyle took a breath in and opened his mouth— before realising the clock behind them sitting on the bedside table. “Oh shit! Dude, it’s 7.30 am, everyone’s waiting for us! We gotta get out of bed!”

Stan nodded at the boy in front of him with a smitten grin.

***

“Fuck you guys! Why didn’t you get me anything?” Cartman stomped and thrashed his chubby arms like a little child, Wendy leaning on the counter with a hand on her hip. “You didn’t get us anything”

“Yeah, spoiled brat” Craig was always there to supply the middle finger, and this was the perfect time for that. Cartman’s face turned a hot red before he ultimately crossed his arms in a petty pout.

Footsteps were heard as Stan and Kyle descended down the stairs, holding each other's hands. Kenny’s eyes lit up at the sight and his mouth grew into a hopeful smile.

Everyone else turned to the two boys who’d just entered the room, “Woah, what happened with you two lovebirds?” Wendy was quick to tease, the tension clear. The two blushed, Stan had his eyes fixated on the redhead next to him.

“We.. might’ve kissed” Kyle confessed before receiving a bundle of congrats and supportful wishes. Then Kenny got up and tackled the boys into a large bear hug.

He exclaimed excitedly, “I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!” Kyle gave him a small pat on the back, “I’m sure you are Ken”

Everyone besides Cartman was enthusiastic, “Kinny was trying to get you guys to make out for the past three days” He rolled his eyes rather passive-aggressively.

Kyle forced a smile at him, “Mhm”

Stan had a brow raised, “Really? I didn’t notice”

“There’s a lot of things you don’t notice”
