Chapter Text
Stumbling inside Alhaitham’s house, Kaveh closed the door to the outside for the final time.
The only thought left in his mind was get to his room, lock the door and pray that it ends.
Kaveh set down everything he could possibly think to return to Alhaitham on the floor. It was only right to give the scribe everything he owed, even if all he had was a pathetic amount of mora and keys.
He grabbed the nearest piece of paper that he could find- something he’d seen Alhaitham working on earlier that week- and began to scribble an apology.
Dear Alhaitham
Here is everything that I owe you
I’m sorry.
Some of the words were smudged, and Kaveh blinked a couple times to clear his vision. Unsuccessful, he wiped his eyes.
He felt something wet run down his cheek, falling onto the paper.
Oh. He was crying.
He was about to end all of the pain he was in, free himself from the chains of life, and Kaveh was crying.
Kaveh put the paper down. It didn’t matter. He wouldn’t be crying for much longer, anyway.
His plan was all set. Nobody could stop him. Cyno was far away in the desert, Tighnari was somewhere in the forest, and he didn’t know or care where Alhaitham was.
Kaveh walked into his room, shutting the door and locking it. His friends would likely only find him days later, when Kaveh’s body was cold and lifeless and far beyond saving.
It didn’t take him long to find some rope in his room, Kaveh had been planning this day for a while now. He’d figured that it was only a matter of time before he snapped, and he was right.
Kaveh positioned the rope, tying it to his ceiling fan. A hole just big enough for his head to slip through was left in the form of a noose.
He could’ve sworn that he heard the front door unlock.
He wiped his tears away, an unfeeling smile plastered on his face as he stood on a chair and slipped his head through it.
Someone started running towards his room.
Kaveh kicked the chair away, and he waited for death to take him.
“Kaveh!?”
snap
thud.
