Work Text:
Today started out great!
You had woken up, placed in your new fancy dateviator contacts. You went about your day talking to the various objects around your house. With the new contacts, there were unlimited charges AND there was a setting in which you could just have all the dateables out at once.
You had some shady talk with Curt and Rod, threw corny after corny pickup lines at each other with Dante, hung out with the inanimals & Mateo, and watched the Hanks go on a new adventure.
Now it was nighttime, and you decided to spend the rest of your day with your boyfriends Eddie and Volt at the Breaker Box.
When you walked in, the place was packed. You looked around and saw many familiar objects seated across the place, sharing drinks and laughs. Johnny Splash had just finished his act, and he waved at you while heading off the stage before walking towards his table. You smiled and waved back, but you weren’t looking where you were walking and bumped straight into someone.
“Oh, I’m so sorr-!” you exclaimed, cutting yourself off when you looked up to see Volt beaming at you.
“Live Wire!” Volt grinned, taking your hand into his, and kissing it gently. He was handsome as ever, sporting his usual ensemble, and his hair seemed to shine brighter at your arrival.
“I noticed you the second you walked through that door, you always seem to light up any room you grace with your presence,” Volt winks before pulling your hand around his waist, leaning down to press a gentle kiss on your cheek, slinging his arm around your shoulder.
“I could say the same thing about you V,” you giggled, reaching up to push back some of his glowing hair behind his ear.
Volt lets out a laugh, putting his hand over yours and kissing your palm. He then leads you over to the bar, where Eddie is at work rinsing out shot glasses. Eddie looks up, his eyes landing on you and Volt approaching.
“Hey there Live Wire,” Eddie says affectionately, reaching over the counter to hold your hand once you’ve taken a seat.
“Hi Eddie, how’s business going?” You ask, waving Volt goodbye as he kisses your cheek before walking away to attend to the other patrons.
“S’been good, everyone’s been well-behaved so far” He answers, putting down the shot glasses he was washing onto the drying rack.
“D’ya want anything to drink?” Eddie asks, crouching down to grab a clean glass for you.
“Just water please,” you said. You didn’t trust your body to handle a drink right now.
Eddie raised an eyebrow before nodding and placing down a coaster and a glass of ice water in front of you.
To be honest, you haven’t been feeling well all day. What started as a dull ache in your stomach a couple hours ago had slowly escalated into a noticeable yet manageable pain. You were a little worried, for in the past you’ve had random spurts of stomach pain that left you writhing on the cool bathroom floor for relief. But you thought it wasn’t anything to be concerned about since the pain wasn’t terribly uncomfortable and always went away in the morning. You didn’t want to take any risks though.
You grabbed the glass, tracing the rim of it with your finger as you watched Jean Loo perform on stage. You didn’t have much of an appetite for both food and water at the moment.
More objects took turns performing different acts on stage and you watched every single one from your seat at the bar. Eddie and Volt would give you small touches of affection and kisses as they passed by you as they worked. Eventually, there were no more performers and customers started trickling out of the bar.
Finally, it was just you, Volt, and Eddie. Eddie was washing the few remaining dirty glasses while Volt organized any stray chairs back to their assigned tables. You had your head resting on your hand, watching your two boyfriends at work.
However, the pain in your stomach had increased significantly, causing you to start sweating. You zoned out and focused on remaining nonchalant, not wanting Eddie or Volt to notice. You didn’t want to leave just yet, to avoid raising suspicion from your doting boyfriends. They don’t know about your episodes, which is what you called them.
Frankly, you didn’t want them to know. You found it embarrassing, memories of fainting in high school and people constantly asking you what happened afterward coming to mind. You also hated people seeing you in such a vulnerable and embarrassing state since you always ended up crying on the floor, held by your friend Sam as she tried to block you from view.
The idea of Volt and Eddie seeing you in such a state mortified you. You also didn’t want to add to the stress that comes with their jobs. You also had a feeling that if they found out, they’d never let you have a moment alone.
Suddenly, a jolt of pain coursed through you, making you snap out of your thoughts. You upheld your composure though, letting out a deep breath and closing your eyes. You could feel the pain getting worse, cold sweat sliding down your neck. You opened your eyes again, noticing how Eddie and Volt were almost done with their tasks. They can’t see me like this, I need to leave.
You stood up from the bar stool, slightly swaying as you got up. Eddie turned towards you, his eyebrows furrowing.
“Everything alright?” he questioned, his full attention on you. You gave him a small smile, slightly wincing as another jolt of pain hit you.
“Y-yeah, just tired… Almost fell asleep just now. I’m gonna head to bed, okay?” You ran your hands through your hair, trying to calm yourself down. Eddie stepped closer to the bar counter, eyeing the glass of water he’d given to you hours ago.
“Y’sure you’re okay? You didn’t drink any water,” Eddie picked up the cup. The ice in it had melted long ago, and the water nearly filled to the brim. Volt had taken notice of the situation, walking up to you both.
You nodded, lips pursed as the pain went from singular jolts to ongoing pulses. Volt looked you up and down, squinting as he noticed your odd body language.
“If there’s something wrong Live Wire, you need to tell us,” Volt sighed, putting his hands on your shoulders gently. You were getting frustrated, panic rising in your chest as you began to see black dots in your eyes. Can’t they just leave me alone already?!
“I said I'm fine!” you yelled, a noticeable strain in your voice. You pushed Volt away, yet very weakly. You placed a hand on your stomach, biting your lip to prevent whimpering as you felt pain coursing through you. Volt and Eddie both looked surprised at your outburst.
“Just… just leave me alone…” you muttered, walking as fast as you could towards the door of the bar. You weren’t able to walk that far before having to stop, leaning against the table nearest the exit. Your eyesight turned blurry, black dots creeping up from the sides of your vision. Volt and Eddie ran forward, Volt pulling out a chair as Eddie guided you to sit. Volt kneeled down next to you, taking one of your hands in his.
“Live Wire, you need to tell us what’s going on, please let us help,” Volt pleaded, looking at you with worried eyes. Eddie was behind you, holding your head to keep it from falling forward.
“No, no, let me go… you can’t see me like this…” you whined, unaware of what you were saying. Your brain always becomes muddled during your episodes, with broken sentences and secrets spilling out of your mouth without you realizing it.
In a final desperate attempt to get away, you used all your strength to get up to run and lock yourself in your room. While you did manage to stand up, you immediately dropped to your knees, falling forward.
Before your face could hit the floor, Eddie caught you, pulling you against his chest. He laid you across his lap, your head resting on his shoulder. You opened your mouth to protest, but a cry came out instead, curling in on yourself in pain. Eddie and Volt looked at each other in fear, having no idea what to do. Seeing you like this was scaring them.
“Doll, please tell us what’s going on, we can’t help you if you don’t,” Volt begged, gently wiping away your tears. He retracted his hand from your face after touching it.
“Eddie, they’re burning up,” Eddie moved one of his hands against your neck, sighing when he felt the heat beneath your skin.
“Cold…” you muttered, cuddling closer to Eddie in search of warmth. Eddie held you tighter in response, wiping away the sweat forming on your face.
“Cold sweats, s’not a good sign,” Eddie muttered.
“I’m going to get Farya,” Volt said before turning to leave.
“No!” you yelled out. Volt stopped in his tracks, turning around to face you again.
“Unless you tell me what’s going on, I’m going to get Farya, whether you like it or not!” Volt raised his voice, clearly frustrated. All he wants is to help you, but you wouldn't cooperate .
“I just… I just need painkillers…” you were able to force out. Volt sighed in relief at your answer, finally being able to do something to help you.
“Anything else you need?” Eddie asked gently.
“...Bed,” you grunted out, head lolling backward, your head felt like it was spinning! “... Need to lay down,”.
Eddie nodded, holding you close against him as he headed towards your room. Volt was about to leave when you reached out, loosely grabbing his wrist.
“Please don’t tell anyone about this… don’t let anyone see me like this…” you pleaded. Volt looked at you with an unreadable expression on his face before giving you a warm smile.
“Of course I won’t darling, I promise,” he assured you before walking towards the kitchen where you kept your medicine. Eddie walked with you in his arms to your bedroom, laying you down gently. You sighed at the comfort of the bed, making a mental note to thank Betty later before hissing as another wave of pain washed over you, making you breathe heavily and your head spin.
“Oh spark… Where are you hurting?” Eddie asked, sitting down next to you, brushing hair out of your face. You opened your mouth to respond but failed, an even stronger pulse of pain piercing you in the stomach. You let out a small cry, clutching onto your stomach. Eddie wiped the fresh tears that fell down your cheeks.
“Is it your stomach?” you nodded, taking in deep breaths to prevent yourself from passing out. Normally, you would’ve blacked out by now, but you were focusing on staying awake until Volt came back with the painkillers. The pain was getting worse, so you tapped Eddie’s shoulder and pointed towards your closet.
“Do you want me to get something from there?” You nodded again, talking now being painful. Eddie placed a kiss on your temple before standing up to look in your closet. His eyes scoured the contents of the space, unsure of what you wanted him to grab.
Right as he was about to turn around to leave, one of the hangers dropped onto the floor. Eddie turned around to see what dropped only to find that the hanger had fallen right next to a box with the words ‘heating pad’ on it. He smiled, picking up the box and the hanger, and putting the hanger back onto the closet rod.
“Thanks, Hank 4,” Eddie whispered as he placed him back, Hank 4 rocking back and forth as a way to say ‘no problem!’. Eddie walked back towards the bed, taking the heating pad out of the box and plugging it into the nearest outlet. Eddie places down the heating pad on the bed before moving to lie down behind you. One of his arms wraps around your waist, his hand holding the heating pad against your stomach while his other arm slips under your neck.
The heat provides instant relief, quelling some of the pain in your gut. You relax instantly, most of the tension melting away. Eddie pulled you closer to him, his head in your hair.
“Feelin’ better?” Eddie asked.
“Mhm…” you sighed happily, nuzzling more into Eddie’s touch. While you were still experiencing a good amount of pain, it was a big improvement compared to how bad it was a few seconds ago. Just then, you heard the door creak open.
“Sorry that I took so long, Live Wire. Farya, bless her heart, kept insisting on knowing why I needed the strongest painkillers she had. I assured her it was nothing serious, just that our dear human was experiencing some pain and that it was nothing to worry about.” Volt walked into the room, closing the door behind him. In his hands, he had two pills and a glass of warm water.
Volt placed down the medicine and glass onto your dresser before helping you sit up. Eddie sat up as well, walking back over to your closet to grab a clean pair of pajamas while Volt helped you out of your current clothes. Eddie walked back over to you with the pajamas, helping you into them while Volt went to your bathroom. Volt returned with a washcloth, damp with warm water. He quickly wiped your face clean before wiping down the rest of your body, removing the cold sweat that stuck to your body. Eddie and Volt whispered encouraging praises during the entire process, not wanting to make you uncomfortable.
Finally, Volt gave you the two pills, holding the water glass up to your mouth to help you wash them down. After you took the pills, the three of you lay on the bed. You and Eddie were back to your original position with him holding the heating pad against your stomach while Volt placed himself in front of you, hugging your head against his chest.
With the pills in your system, you finally allowed yourself to fall asleep, comfortably in the arms of your boyfriends.

When you woke up, the pain that tortured you last night was now gone. You also noticed that you were still being held by Eddie and Volt, very tightly as well. You tried to move, but their arms around you were strong and unmoving. You let out a small giggle, finding the fact that they are both heavy sleepers amusing.
“Eddieee, Voltttt,” you said in an attempt to wake them up. No reaction.
“Eddie, Volt, It’s time to wake up!” you said louder. Still no reaction.
“... Wake up already! I need to pee!” you finally yelled out.
You expected them to jolt awake, your yelling shocking them out of their sleep. But instead, both of them snorted, their faces cracking into a smile.
“Sorry Live Wire, we’ll get up now,” Volt said with a teasing tone, Eddie snickering behind you as they both moved to sit up.
“I can’t believe you two! Pretending to be asleep…” you shook your head, pretending to be angry at them, but the smile on your face gave it away. You got up with ease, walking into the bathroom and shutting the door behind you.
When you walked out of the bathroom, you saw Eddie and Volt sitting on one side of the bed, with serious expressions on their faces, and a space for you to sit between them.
“Please sit darling,” Volt patted the space between him and Eddie, signaling you to sit down. You walked over nervously, sitting down on the bed.
“Care to explain what happened last night?” Eddie questioned. You looked downwards, fidgeting with your hands.
“We’re not angry live wire, we just want to make sure you’re okay,” Volt reassured you, his hand resting on top of yours. Eddie nodded, placing a hand on your lower back. You sighed, giving up on keeping your episodes secret.
“...I have these episodes, where my stomach will start hurting really bad. They started in high school and happen randomly like, two or three times a year,” you admitted, refusing to look them in the eye as you felt your face burn up.
“It feels like my organs are being wrung out and twisted like a wet towel. I’m not sure what the cause is, but I think it has to do with me not eating food regularly. I usually keep on a strict schedule of meals to prevent this from happening, but sometimes I slip up when I get distracted or stressed,”.
“The pain always goes away in the morning, so when I feel the pain start forming, I bolt to my bed and lay there until I pass out,” you paused when you felt Volt squeeze your hand. “I didn’t want to leave the bar until I had the chance to be with the two of you alone, so I stayed despite feeling the pain twist in my gut,”.
You went on to talk about your high school experiences with these episodes and the reason why you wanted to be left alone. Volt and Eddie remained silent the entire time, listening to you intently. When you finally finished getting everything off your chest, you waited nervously for their response. Volt ran his hands through his hair and Eddie sighed.
“Live Wire, please let us know the second you start feeling unwell, you worried us terribly,” Volt said as he held your face with one of his hands. “We’re always here to support and help you, no matter how embarrassing you think your troubles are,”.
“I agree,” Eddie joined in, rubbing comforting circles on your back. “Don’t ever be ‘fraid to come to us for help, no need to be embarrassed,”.
You hummed in agreement, leaning on Eddie’s shoulder.
“I know… I’m sorry for not telling you guys, I should’ve trusted you two,”.
“No need to apologize, Live Wire,” Volt kissed your cheek. “We understand,”.
“What V said,” Eddie kissed the top of your head. “You don’t need to apologize for anythin’,”. He wiped a stray tear that fell from your eye, and a smile formed on your face.
“...Thank you guys, I love you two so much”
“We love you more”
