The Moments Between

Summary:

For those moments between.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Chapter 1: Blades At My Throat

Summary:

Is it sparring? Is it flirting? Is it some secret third thing?

Chapter Text

Rumi spins away, landing in a crouch then darting forward under Mira's guard. Mira's Gok-Do spins, forcing Rumi to roll away. She strikes again and again, trying to wear Mira down, all while avoiding a rain of Shinkal from Zoey.

Mira thrusts towards Rumi then slashes, but then Rumi is in her face and Mira is on her knees, point of Rumi's Saingeom at her throat.

Smirking, Rumi taps the weapon under Mira's chin, forcing her to her feet, "Gotcha."

"Guess you did."

"Gotcha," Zoey murmurs, the edge of a Shinkal against Rumi's throat.

Rumi laughs, "I guess you did."

Chapter 2: Soar

Summary:

The girls don't really ground Mira. They help her soar.

Chapter Text

Mira's bank account was quite frankly obscene. She was used to wealth and money; it was second nature for her to spend that money on Zoey and Rumi. Gifts or treats. Sometimes large ones. Occasionally on a dizzying scale.

She didn't care what anyone might think. Mira would give it all up to spend her life with them. Live in some shitty apartment or wandering from town to town. Because every moment she wasn't with them she regretted it.

But they didn't keep her grounded and they couldn't. Instead, they soared high with her.

And Mira loved them for it.

Chapter 3: Lullaby

Summary:

Sweet dreams

Chapter Text

Rumi is known for singing to herself at times. Occasionally, Zoey listens to her. Once, one night, Rumi starts singing a soft, sweet little song— something almost a lullaby.

Zoey records it.

She plays it back to help her sleep some nights, and shares the file with Mira.

When they're stressed, it's the only way they can sleep.

After the Idol Awards there are nights when they're all tangled in bed together. On one of those nights, Zoey murmurs she can't sleep, and Rumi starts singing, stroking her hair.

Singing her girls to sleep becomes one of Rumi's favorite things.

Chapter 4: Daughter

Summary:

The Honmoon has three mothers.

Chapter Text

The Honmoon holds them, gentle and kind, in the spaces between heart beats. She ripples when they laugh, thrums when they sing, aches when they cry. Her iridescent light matches the patterns of one. The laugh of another resonates the strongest. The need to protect mirrors the third.

She was born to fire but came from love and hope and a connection soul-deep. Traces of the before still linger in the same way traces of the old linger in the souls of her mothers, but she's something wholly new.

They are her mothers, and she their daughter made from love.

Notes:

Writing this and keeping it to 100 words was a fun challenge. Also feels good for ideas that might not need a lot of words.
