Work Text:
The world is spinning
spinning, spinning, spinning
like my head
like my thoughts
And my skin keeps turning different shades of red
nails on a chalkboard
nails on skin
don't scream
don't cry
She's pretty
in a marigold sort of way
I guess it wasn't enough for me
I guess I'd prefer a Rose
The dark keeps me company
its kidnappers and murderers
the lamp would sheild me from them all
if I could let it stay
Am I too close
is this too much
do I care
do I ache
A trick of the mind
a trick of the heart
both thinking far too hard
A conglomerate of them
flashing camers and all
I'll stay in the corner
I'll always stand in the corner
Do I wish
do I change
a heart torn in two
a mind torn in more
And then it fades
and I laugh
I talk
The wind in my hair
the sea
the salt
it's nice
that's all
The quiet at midnight
the glow of the lamp
mind clear
heart alight in wild delight
Is this how it's supposed to be
full and all-consuming
is this how they feel?
my heart's about to burst
I've never felt
this way about
any simple frienship
You have my trust
and all my heart
I hope it's not too much
It's just nostalgia
I'm just hormonal
it's all in your head
You're just faking
you're not normal
stop pretending
So then, I guess
it's just the way
we all feel in February
Surely I'm not the only one
with late summer melancholy
