Judy didn’t know how to feel. Whenever she looked at Piper, it felt as if her heart had plummeted out of her chest, or was fighting for her to retch it up. When Piper did a happy dance after solving a mystery, Judy felt. Something.
It was probably envy, right?
Yes. That must be it. The way that Piper’s long sleek black hair shone in the sunlight made butterflies rise in her stomach because her own hair laid limp on the back of her neck. The way Piper’s pale green eyes complimented her long red coat was simply a classical bit of fashion based envy, especially since all of her own clothes got lost in a nuclear war.
She was just. Jealous. Jealous when Piper easily linked arms with Preston. Because she was jealous of how comfortable Piper was in this scary world- that must be it. She was green-eyed, one could say. Ignoring how she actually did have green eyes.
Then again, they used to say that people with green eyes are more susceptible to envy. At least they did prewar
She felt like she was going to be sick every time Piper laughed just because she couldn’t imagine being that happy. Her face flushed when Piper complimented her because she knew she could never compare.
That was all.
She was jealous.
