Alex's POV: I was born when the moon was visible on the other side of the sun. It was warm. Not spring, not winter, not summer. But autumn. It rained a lot then, I loved the smell of rain so much. But my dad rarely came home. And my mom too, I rarely saw her. So I was raised by myself. There was a little house on a hill, where you could see beautiful forests, I often went there to pick flowers, then put them in a vase so that they smelled nice. When I was ten, my dad told me something that gave me goosebumps. I still don't believe all this...
A middle-aged man sat down next to his daughter and sighed.
"Alex... I have something to tell you."
Alex smiled and nodded. Her face was always radiant, she was curious about everything around her.
"Yes, dad. I'm listening."
To which he sighed again, looking down. He knew for sure that this was painful for her, but he had to say it.
"You... have family far away. You... are of the Lin Kuei clan by blood."
Alex raised her eyebrows in surprise, looking at her father.
"Lin Kuei? What is this?"
"It's an icy realm ruled by cruel and ruthless people. They don't know warmth and joy, it's like a cold calculated system."
Alex nodded, still looking with curiosity.
"Is my mother there? Why isn't she with us, Dad?"
"Because she's with your older brothers. You have two brothers, Alex."
Alex frowned a little, then stood up.
"What? With me..? But why can't I see them?"
"Alex, daughter, it's not that simple. I'm protecting you from the traditions of our clan. Because you're a girl, it'll be dangerous for you there," he admitted quietly, already looking at her.
"But my family is there! Why can't I see my brothers?!"
"Alex, please. I'm just hiding it for the sake of your future."
"You only think about yourself, Dad! And you're ashamed of me, that's why you hid it from me for ten years!"
Then she just ran out of the house. Alex just cried, sitting down on the soft warm grass. How many years of living a lie was so exhausting.
Then she decided she would find them herself. Not now. When the time came and she was ready. She wanted to know more about Lin Kuei, about her brothers, maybe even about the mother and father her brothers knew. To find the truth, painful, but the truth.
