Summary:
As the date of the wedding between the Free Spirited Princess and the Street Rat approaches, the Sorcerer of the Sands has to battle an enemy that has infiltrated the court while he was away protecting the kingdom. And so begins a new dive into the intrigue of the court.

The Sorcerer of the Sands has always been a source of fascination for me and it pains me to know that some still ignore his depths in favor of lackluster depictions. The characterizations used in this fic are as accurate to the historical reality as possible.
Chapter 28:Back to the start
As the days passed, a feeling quite unlike dread yet in many senses similar hung above the Sorcerer of the Sands’ head. Indeed, he had done the work that was expected of him and the palace’s inhabitants were grateful, perhaps even too much so. His lord, the Ruler of the Oasis, had always been too soft and accepting, his feelings so fleeting and his memory so short that the Sorcerer doubted he remembered the faces and names of the traitors he had beheaded a few weeks earlier. But even the Princess and her Street Rat now seemed to enjoy his presence more than before, something that was unthinkable even last month.
He’d done nothing but his duty… No, he’d gone above and beyond, as, despite a few misgivings about his liege and the nature of his heir’s marriage, his loyalty was unwavering. Without him, who knew where the Ruler of the Oasis would steer the country? If he weren’t here to watch over these naive younglings, would the Scalding Sands stand strong against the powerful enemy nations that surrounded its lands? It was doubtful.

The situations that had seemed to calm down was once again turned upside down and who else but the Sorcerer of the Sands could pick up the pieces?

Thank you. Since everything is prewritten and set in stone, I can tell you the conflict is there for a few more chapters but will come to a significant point next week.

Very interesting as always! I didn’t think the story would follow on that thread while I was reading but I now understand why you chose to take that turn. I don’t really like misunderstanding plots though so could I ask if it will last long?
