   Summary

"Damian. Jon. Glad you could make it." Bruce gestured to a portly man whose toupee had slipped. "This is Councilman Thompson. Councilman, my son, Damian, and his friend, Jon Kent."

The word landed wrong between Jon's ribs. Friend. Like Jon was one of Damian's school acquaintances, not the person who'd held him through nightmares three nights ago.

"Actually, sir—" Jon began, but Damian's fingers found his elbow, gentle yet firm.

"—It's a pleasure to meet you Councilman," Damian smoothly interjected, steering the conversation elsewhere.
