Chapter Text
I lay in my bed, paralyzed.
There are a million things I could do.
A million things I want to do.
Yet I lay, bound by the soft warmth of a blanket and the comfortable numbness of inactivity.
When was the last time I ate?
When did I last shower?
How long has it been since I moved?
I lay in bed, paralyzed.
Bugs hide in the filth piled along the walls.
And they whisper things to me.
That my stagnancy is natural.
That the deadlines can wait one more day.
That rest is important.
But this is not rest.
I am wasting my life,
Yet I do not move.
Spiders have started making their homes on my limbs.
Their webs tie me to my rotting mattress,
So incredibly fragile.
And I do not move.
There is something on my back.
It crawls and slithers and stinks of decay,
And it burrows into my flesh and makes a home of my insides,
My guts a feast for it's larvae.
I do not move.
Maggots spill from my mouth,
Having gorged on my tongue,
Now reduced to a bloody stump.
They writhe out and spread across my room,
Joining the legions of flys buzzing around me.
I do not move.
I cannot move.
I lay in bed. Paralyzed.
I do not think,
I do not create,
I do not move.
And now,
I think I've forgotten how to.
