Sunny gazed at the other girl, the sound of the tapping of a pencil against the dining table echoing throughout the room. Despite the incessant, irritating noise, she found herself strangely calm as she observed the way Aubrey tilted her head so it was resting on her hand, her eyebrows raised as she bit her lip in deep thought while staring at one particular spot on her paper. That one annoying strand of her hair hung past her nose, making Sunny wonder how her face wasn’t getting tickled by it.
Okay, she thought, awareness(and a very, very increased heart rate) hitting her like a truck. Maybe she wasn’t calm about this. Her chest felt like it was heating up, that sensation quickly creeping up her neck, the more she was aware of it.
