Tony Stark had lost his son when he was only 2 years old, stolen away in broad daylight with nobody the wiser of what exactly happened. Years later, Tony has just made it through the disaster with Ultron. He is trying to keep himself and the team together but relationships are strained and tempers are running high.
Then a random turn of events leads to his path crossing with that of a particular vigilante. They are strangers to each other, or so they think.Peter Parker is on top of the world. After a few shitty years, losing his parents and then losing his Uncle, things are finally looking up. Sure he lives in a crappy little apartment with his Aunt but he might have just found his mission in life.

This is an AU story obvious by some of the tags. I'm starting out a few weeks after Age of Ultron took place. Civil War will be a thing.

If there was one thing Tony Stark hated, it was seeing something broken but being unable to fix it. It was the closest thing to OCD he had. Just staring at something broken made his fingers twitch for a tool and his mind whirl with possibilities to fix it, to make it better. Honestly, it was annoying sometimes, the longest he had ever held out on trying to fix something was a day and by the time he had started his hands were shaking and he was sweating like a sinner in church. It was ridiculous.
It also didn't stop at inanimate objects.

The Rogues are back in the tower and Tony has been avoiding them. They finally had enough and decided to shut FRIDAY off in order to see Tony in his lab. Tony wishes for anything to get him out of the situation, but a Code Waterspout wasn't what he meant.
OR
Tony gets cornered in his lab by the Rogue Avengers and only wants to leave. When FRIDAY comes back online only to set off alarms that runs Tony's blood cold, he thinks that this is not what he meant. Peter is hurt and Tony needs to get to him. Screw the Rogues.

Love. The cause of Steve Rogers' death was going to be love.
Tony thought that Steve was pretty content with that. What a fitting death for Captain America. Dying for love.
The one word that told Tony how he was going to die wasn't nearly as romantic. It was scaring the hell out of him.
