Scapegoat. Your fault. The one who's responsible for everything. The source of all misery. Dar'vod. Not right. The cause of suffering.
That's what Fox is, or so everyone tells him. The chancellor is the most vocal, but for all that the Guard won't say anything to his face, the whispers that stop when he comes close, the avoidances, the little inconveniences and provocations, all of it spells the message out clearly. Fox is unwanted. His death would be celebrated. His existence a stain on an already dark tapestry.
That, only when he dies, does Fox finds out differently? The story of his life.

The hand stops moving, stops petting his hair. He wishes he’d never spoken, if only to feel that hand carding through his locs again. It seems that whenever Fox is involved, Quinlan can only regret.
Fox’s Force presence tinges with a fondness that is so, so sad. Quinlan presses his eyes closed harder, wishing for him to go away.

Molly laughed with her lips flat. "And what good is it to me that you're here now? Where were you twenty years ago, ten years ago? How dare you, how dare you come to me now, when I am this?" With a flap of her hand she summed herself up: barren face, desert eyes, and yellowing heart. "I wish you had never come. Why did you come now?" The tears began to slide down the sides of her nose.
Vaguely fitting for spooky October, but it's...really not that scary.
