Yet, there was no best man.
No bridesmaid, either. No flower omega. No collar-bearer. There was only Mr. Wayne standing in the officiant’s position behind the altar. And Dick, who’d come in and taken his place on the right.
The seats on the bride’s side were empty. Not a single guest showed up so far when Dick’s side filled up. The contrast was disturbing. It was a little more than unsettling.
