Summary
"I'm a professional athlete, of course I'm not going to treat my body 'normally'."
"So am I," Ilya reminds him, "and I don't do the things you do. That excuse might work on your mom or your friends, but it does not work with me."
"It's not an excuse, it's the truth."
Watching Shane do this to himself is a hell like no other. Ilya has no idea how to bring it up, but he doesn't have a choice.
He's fucking terrified.

Summary
Another "what-if" canon divergence, but this time make us cry (not new for me, but definitely next level).
What-if: the plane crashed, and Ilya died.
Glimpses of Shane's shock and grief:
Shane on the bus ride to the hotel, but instead of seeing Ilya's messages, he finds out the plane went down.
Shane at his parents.
Shane at Ilya's house.

Summary
Similar to Built to Break-Alternate ending, this story will be the same up to a certain point, and then switch into an alternate version. Chapter 25 is where things will begin to shift from the original.
If you have read the original, I have gone back and added some author's notes at the end of the chapters with some thoughts and insights you might enjoy, instead of rereading the whole thing... though I find that rereading it sometimes hits different when you know the ending will change.
Spoiler alert: Ilya will die.
Double spoiler alert: There will be a happy ending and a reunion, because I am not a psychopath.OR: Ilya gets cancer, dies... and we see the end of Shane's life until they are reunited again. Read for a good cry, and a happy ending.

Summary
“No!” She says, because one parent seeing her like this is bad enough, and then she’s finally moving, stumbling back off Owen’s lap and awkwardly landing on her feet, “Papa, I can explain…”
“Hm,” he says, eyes flicking back over to Owen, “I think you can explain to me and Dad, da?”
And then, because this moment can’t possibly get any worse, Owen blinks like he’s suddenly figured something out and says “Holy shit, you’re Ilya Rozanov.”
OR: shane and ilya catch their daughter secretly making out with her boyfriend in the basement. they're not at all chill about it.

Summary
It's the night of the Boston vs Montreal game, and Shane Hollander isn't letting whatever illness he's contracted stop him from getting out on the ice, no matter how sick he actually is. Ilya Rozanov, it seems, is the only person who notices.
Whatever that means.

Summary
It’s his Person.
Missed you missed you missed you, he tries to convey with no mouth and no voice and all his heart. He’s reborn the way he died; the name of his Person nestled safe against his tongue.
“Ilya,” Shane gasps, and his heart beats again.
Shane Hollander dies the second Ilya Rozanov’s plane goes down. It just takes a while for his body to catch up.
Thankfully, death isn't permanent — for either of them. Their tangled souls have been given a second chance at life, and they’re going to act like it. Which means never separating again. Ever.
After all, death can’t part them. Why should hockey?
(Shane's POV of BOGO, can be read as a standalone.)
