Summary
The feeling of being wanted is a powerful drug. Being wanted by the one you want is incomparable.
"Mike," Will says lowly. "You’re— You’re so close."
Too close, his brain supplies, a little hysterical. Too much.
Mike doesn’t pull away. "I know."
"Why?"
"Keeping up…" Mike exhales a short laugh that Will feels on his neck, "appearances."

A guy hits on Will at a party, Mike leaves with a hickey, and by morning everybody thinks they're dating.
Will knows it’s supposed to be pretend. He just doesn’t know how to act like he hasn’t wanted this for as long as he can remember.

Will isn’t entirely convinced by what she’s saying, but if this means he gets to sleep in a warmer room he’s fine by that. “Okay then I'll accept taking your room this week then.”
“Great, don’t want you turning into a popsicle. I feel like Mike wouldn’t like that,” she chuckled.
“What wouldn’t I like? Mike says, as he suddenly appears sitting down next to Will, reaching over to grab syrup for his eggs. “What did I miss?”
“Oh, nothing, just Will and I were talking.”
“You and Will talk?” Mike said with a rude scoff.
Okay that’s weird.
Or, A series of miscommunications and fuzzy socks, with siblings meddling in other business helps Mike and Will realize what they have been feeling after getting snowed in again.

Summary
In the summer of 1989, the Byers family moves to Montauk, cutting short Mike and Will's last summer together before college. Certain he'll never see his friend again, Will confesses his love on their last night together, rocking Mike's world entirely. As the tear-filled goodbyes draw to a close, however, Mike is suddenly offered the unexpected opportunity to travel with the Byers family and help them move.
