Summary
“What happened to you?” Celine asked, her voice still cold, but genuinely worried.
As the hazel-brown eyes rushed across the demoness’s face, she could notice more and more of Mi-Yeong’s features. Yet, she did not let the hurt woman into her home.
A demon’s a demon.
“Th-they tried to force me–” Rumi paused, shaking her head to rid herself of the sudden dizziness, “My mother–” She paused, “SHE tried to force me to destroy the Honmoon,” She added, hoping she was not slurring too much. “I-I couldn’t–” She mumbled, losing strength and sliding down the doorframe.

Mi-Yeong ran with her daughter when Rumi was just a child, leaving Rumi to grow up in the Underworld.
The longer they stayed there, the more evil and corrupted Mi-Yeong became, finally agreeing to Gwi-Ma's idea to take down the Honmoon.
All they needed was Rumi.
But the half-demoness ran, knowing that the Honmoon should not be removed.
Now, Rumi is stuck in our world. She asked Celine for help, and while she hides what she is, she befriends the young hunters.

Mira marches like she’s on a mission, slow and methodical until she has Rumi’s back against the mirror wall.
Their height difference is noticeable now, and Rumi has to crane her neck back to look Mira square in the eye. She almost drowns in those simmering pools of dark black, a whimper twisting on her lips before it dives headfirst.
“Did you know… that you’re so damn pretty in these sleeveless shirts?” Mira’s voice is low and seductive, a hint of a growl present as she traces a fingertip along Rumi’s shoulder. The touch is warm, so warm, and it feels like pure electricity as Mira trails that finger along her collar, brushing up and down the bare skin of her neck before it settles right on her sternum. Mira taps her chest lightly but it might as well have felt like a blow of a hammer on her skin. She craves the touch of it, and the thought makes Rumi flush, unfamiliar with asking for such physical affection.
Rumi’s voice quivers as she answers, “R-Really…?”

A sudden, timid knock at her door tore her thoughts away from her slight internal panic.
“C-come in,” Mira quickly stood from her chair, fixing her shirt as she rose, and cleared her throat.
The door swung open slowly. Slow enough that Mira thought someone had somehow put a slow motion filter on her life. As it moved inch by inch, Mira’s nose was assaulted by the singular most mouth-watering scent she’d smelt in years…or ever.
Rain lilies and jasmine permeated Mira’s office, powerful enough that she found herself gripping the edge of her desk to desperately try and grasp the already taunt wire of control that somehow was slowly slipping through her fingers. Rumi’s scent was sweet and wrapped around Mira in an unknowing vice that threatened to bring her to her knees.

The windows were wide and generous, letting in afternoon light that pooled across the living room in soft, forgiving rectangles. The living room fixture flickered faintly when she flipped the switch. The cabinets were…crooked.

A small, humorless huff escaped her. At least this she could see. At least this could be fixed with the right tools. She rolled up the sleeves of her sweater and pulled the first box, slicing through the tape with deliberate precision.

She expected the usual kind of care package Zoey would send her when she knows she’s too stubborn to ask for help or to be looked after but desperately needs it anyway.
