Summary
Jayce is twenty-two.
He tells himself he’ll tear himself apart if he has to, claw his way to the top, change the world someday — all it takes is trying hard enough.
All those outrageously expensive things and that shiny status will be nothing more than proof of his success.Jayce is thirty-two.
He did tear himself apart.
Somewhere along the way, though, he seems to have traded in his skin, his dreams, and that whole “change the world” thing for scrap.-

Summary
Xiao is the name he was given upon his new contract with the great dragon Rex Lapis, but before that, he was Alatus, a weak adeptus twisted to the whim of the God of Dreams. The blood on his hands and karmic debt on his shoulders corrupt his Heart and drive him toward death, until he happens across an otherworldly light stumbling through a lonely valley.
Aether has visited and fled more worlds than he can count, careful never to get attached, but this is the first time he's truly been trapped on any one of them, stripped of his power and split from his sister. He is certain he will starve and fade, chained by his immortality to a life of unending agony, unable to even put himself to rest— until he meets a lost and achingly gentle adeptus who brings him new hope.
It will be a long time before either of them learn how to receive the love they are given.

Day 5: Time Travel AU
“Don’t apologize,” Sapnap insisted, “it’s not your fault.”
“I know,” Karl said again, “I know.” His head fell against Sapnap’s shoulder, face buried into the crook of his neck. “I just wish I could stay.”
“I wish you could stay, too.”
Karl is a time traveler, and Sapnap always waits for him.

Summary
“All a good story needs is a happy ending,” Dream laughs.
George hums in thought as he picks blades of grass and settles them haphazardly in Dream’s soft hair. “So you think our story will have a happy ending?” He asks quieter, a bit of seriousness staining his voice where he doesn’t mean to let it.
Dream studies his face once more, his expression melting into something soft, something George can’t quite put a name to. “Yeah,” he says quietly, “I do.”

Summary
“I could’ve,” Dream admits. “So many times.”
Sapnap stays quiet a moment, and while Dream sniffles, the little girl in his lap turns, taps against his face like the tears are common. Dream kisses at her hand, promises her he is okay. He acts like nothing is wrong. Like Sapnap isn’t crying in front of him too, when he should be scolding Dream.
“Why didn’t you?” Sapnap asks as he swipes the back of his hand over his nose. “I mean, not even George?”
The mention of their other friend brings Dream into a new reality. Soft, brown, messy hair on his screen, a grin that laughs and cheeks that turn rosy any time Dream teases him. A light squeal into his headset at the late hours of the night, once Dream is alone in his tranquility. George, the rough paper that sands Dream down. Warm, fluffy bread. Fuck, Dream thinks.
Dream decides to tell his friends about his daughter right before they move in.

Summary
"If Elliot knew then that the gift carried a curse, he wouldn’t have accepted it so eagerly.
The glimmer in his eye, the honor of receiving a present, the mysterious appeal of the expensive black metal - all would have melted away. He would laugh now, knowing what the trade represented. A prized set of throwing knives in exchange for his freedom."
