Buck asks, "Where is your dad?"
"He's downstairs buying sodas," Christopher replies. He sits down next to Buck and points at the magazine. "Why are you reading Bridal Guide?"
"Oh." Buck flushes a little. It's not like he can explain: I realized I'm in love with your dad and keep accidentally planning a wedding we're never going to have. "It was this or Golf Digest."

Summary
“Don’t steal him from us. We were talking!” Maddie says to Buck.
Buck sticks his tongue out. “I call dibs.”
“You can’t call dibs on a person, Evan. Do we need to have the ‘people aren’t objects’ talk?”
Buck’s hold on Eddie’s hand tightens, like Maddie was about to pull Eddie back down. He has never been more happy to be in the middle of a sibling war. Or… to be called dibs on? Eddie doesn’t know, but his heart is fluttering, and that traitorous warmth is rising in his cheeks.
Buck is a great roommate. And then he starts kissing Eddie.

Summary
Eddie smiled, thumb leaving Buck’s collarbone and landing somewhere else. Somewhere it hadn’t been before. Somewhere that had a purpose.
Because it was there for a discernible amount of time. It was there for an amount of time that could be counted, that could be tracked. It was there to do a job, a task.
Maybe some people wouldn’t notice. Maybe Buck was just attuned to this kind of thing from being in the field. Or maybe Eddie was the one who didn’t notice. Maybe it was Eddie who was just so used to applying his fingers to certain places on a patient to make sure that they were still alive.
But Buck was pretty sure he knew what this was, and it was confirmed for him when Eddie next spoke.
...
Or, Eddie and Buck navigate Christopher leaving, a breakup, and an evil captain through pulse point touches.
...
Or, or, 9 times Eddie touches one of Buck's pulse points and one time Buck touches Eddie's.

Summary
Buck laughed, but his heart ticked with familiar, ridiculous nerves as Eddie tapped the folder against his palm. When Eddie looked that delighted to share something, it was usually about Chris. And when it was about Chris, it was usually about Eddie by extension—some beautifully earnest essay about bravery or soldiers, or an art project where ‘Dad’ had been rendered with heroic proportions and Buck as the guy in the corner with a goofy smile.
It was fine. It was more than fine. Buck had worked his way from the periphery of this picture, frame by frame, until he stood inside it; he could be the guy in the corner, smiling. He could be the second mention. He could be extra.
Still, the old echo stirred: not necessary. Replaceable.
Or, Chris writes an essay in class about his hero. It isn't who Buck expects.

Summary
Just as Eddie starts to melt back into it, the phone buzzes again. Just as loud. Just as fucking insistent.
Eddie rips his mouth away with a frustrated sound, glaring down at where the phone is tucked away. “Seriously?”
Buck cringes as the buzzing continues. “Sorry. I’ll turn it off.”
He reaches into his pocket, but by the time it’s out, the call has timed out. Buck’s finger goes to hover over the lock button to shut the device off, but then the screen lights up again. Same buzzing. Same ringtone. This time, Tommy’s face and name flash brightly on the screen.
Eddie’s jaw clenches, hand still tightly fisted in Buck’s hair. “Answer it.” He says before he can stop himself.
Buck's head snaps up to look at him, eyes frantic and expression puzzled. “W-what? Now?”
“Buck,” Eddie says, voice firm and insistent, leaning in to ghost a kiss along Buck’s cheek. “Answer the phone.”

Summary
“Buck—” Eddie choked out, a strangle of breath high in the back of his throat. “Can I…”
He trailed off. Let go of Buck’s wrist to drag his fingertips up over Buck’s stomach, over the ridge of his sternum, between his pecs, then laid his palm flat there—rubbing.
“Can you…?” Buck echoed, urging him to continue.
“Fuck you.” Eddie spit, flush high on his cheeks, embarrassed. “Here.”
Buck’s face flickered, not confusion but surprise, a split second and then a slow, washed-out smile. “You want to—” he gestured at his own body, “—right here, on my chest?” The note in his voice was soft, stunned, like the question itself was precious.
Eddie nodded, words stuck in his throat, but he didn’t look away. Not this time. He watched Buck’s eyes dilate; watched him draw a ragged breath.
“Fuck, Eddie, yes,” Buck said, almost a moan. He laid back on the bed, propping himself up on his elbows, chest arched out, a blush crawling high up his neck. “You want me to just—” He circled a big hand over his pec, rubbing at the skin, then looked up for confirmation.
Or; Eddie fucks Buck's tits.

Summary
“He baby-trapped you,” the man said with a misplaced confidence that was almost impressive, “that’s fucked up, man.”
Buck blinked. Then blinked again. Then, “Uh... no. No, that’s not—”
“Shut it, Benji, that’s not what happened,” the other robber scowled, no longer trying to pretend he wasn’t eavesdropping. “They’re both dudes. A dude can’t baby-trap another dude.”
“Of course they can. Equal rights and shit! That’s what the parades are for.”

There's a hostage situation at the bank and Buck is forced to reevaluate his relationship with Eddie (and vice versa).

Summary
Bobby would like the record to state that he did not intend to be this much of an asshole about it. Quite frankly, it had been an unforeseeable turn of events completely out of his control as long as you ignored the fact he had done it on purpose and enjoyed every second of it. Because Bobby Nash was not a spiteful man. He could, however, be a very petty one.
---
The Buckley parents happen to be in town around Buck’s birthday, and they let something slip about his non-existent baby box. Bobby decides to do something about it.

Summary
The AU where Bobby adopted Evan when he was six years old, and then twenty years later Eddie joins the 118 and starts dating Buck... and no one initially realises that Evan and Buck are, in fact, the same person. Part 1 is the story of the identity shenanigans and the reveal.
Part 3 is a collection of missing scenes from the original story, while Parts 4 ('how it could have gone') and 5 ('another way it could have gone') are outtakes and depict two different scenarios where the reveal of Buck and Evan being the same person go a different way.
Part 2 'oh captain my captain' is a prequel and shows the 118 meeting Bobby and then later on Evan.
Part 6 'these are the days we've been waiting for' is the story of Buck's first day at the 118.
Part 7 'may you live in interesting times' is a sequel to that takes place about a year or so later, and Part 8 'I once was lost (but now I'm found)' directly follows on and is a full-length sequel and prequel to the main story.
This series as it is now is standalone and can be considered complete. The only reason I haven't marked it as such is because I do expect to be adding additional installments at some point in the future. Happy reading!

Summary
“Did you ever go to Hershey?”
“What?” Eddie asked, thrown. “Why would I go to Hershey without you?” he asked, picking up a dish towel and drying off the plates in in the drying rack.
“When you were younger, I mean,” Buck clarified. “For your ballroom dancing.”
“I think I would—” Eddie paused on his way to grab a new plate, thinking. He met Buck’s face with an equally confused expression and said, “actually, now that you’re saying it . . . yeah.” He looked surprised by his own answer. “Yeah, Tara and I went our junior year. Damn, I can’t believe I forgot about that.”
“I think we met.”

In 2008, an unlikely interaction occurred; in 2025, Buck remembers.

“Are you homophobic?”
“What?”
“Will you be my boyfriend?”
“Yes,” Eddie answered, automatically, even though his mind had volunteered several other pressing questions, like what are you talking about and what is happening and did I recently sustain brain damage.
“Thanks,” said Buckley, and then he pushed Eddie back against the side of the firetruck and kissed him.

Summary
Eddie repeats his affirmations in the mirror every morning, while he shaves the stubble from his jaw.
My name is Eddie Diaz. I am autistic. I am gay. I am a good dad and I am a good person. I deserve to be happy and I deserve to feel good.
(It's taken him a long to be able to say it outside of his head. It's taken him an even longer time to say it and believe it.)

Summary
Buck had almost never been more honest when he’d responded, “I think I’d kill someone to see you in something lacy.”
At the time, Eddie had laughed it off, and Buck was certain that would be the end of it. They’d keep working on ways for Eddie to feel more comfortable asking for what he wants. Evidently, Eddie had been thinking about something entirely different because holy shit.
Eddie looks–
He’s wearing—
Buck scrambles onto his stomach, reaching out and stopping just short of feeling lace under his fingertips. It’s a jockstrap, made of deep purple lace with a botanical pattern, a white band stretched over his hips.
“I didn’t even kill anyone.” Buck whispers, awed.
Eddie snorts. “Prouda you, bud.” He snarks, but he’s blushing bright red anyway. His voice is far softer when he asks, “do you… like it?”
OR
Buck has no shortage of fantasies about Eddie. Eddie doesn't mind indulging him.

Summary
Eddie’s pretty certain that any of the clergy (or the elders, or the deacons, or the altar boys, or the little old ladies who still reach up to pinch his face even though he’s north of thirty) would be able to read the guilt on his face with one sidelong glance. It’s like it’s written across his forehead: prodigal son about to commit sacrilege in church supply closet!
Maybe if he didn’t need it so bad, it wouldn’t be pouring off of him in thick, heady waves. But Buck looks so– so. His curls are soft and fluffy and glowing golden in the light that pours through the stained glass windows of the church. He’s wearing a fucking suit, for god’s sake. It’s deep blue, just a few shades off of navy and making the blue of his eyes look nothing short of mesmerizing.
Eddie hasn’t been able to stop staring all morning.
OR
Buck and Eddie are disgustingly in love and get up to shenanigans during Easter Mass about it.

Summary
Sure, it was probably, most-definitely a joke. And sure, Eddie is his best friend who knows Buck would never actually get mad at something like that. He’s joked about Eddie’s ass once or twice after all. But despite all that... Eddie spanked him. In the middle of the station where anybody could see, where anybody could ask questions, Eddie Diaz walked up and slapped his ass.
