Summary
“Take me, instead.” He bargained.
More laughter erupted from the crew. He opened his mouth to tell them that he was a hard worker and a quick learner, but he was cut off by the commander.
“Very well.” The laughter died down.
“W-what?” He sputtered, suddenly what he had offered sank in.
“Changing your mind so soon? No one backs out of deals with me.”
“I'm not backing out. I just didn't thi--it’s just tha--I'm not that experienced working on a ship.”
“You don't need experience.” His stomach churned at the tone, “The crew will teach you in no time.”

Summary
At the sound of footsteps approaching, he ducked beneath the desk. Despite Hyunjin saying that if the door was open then they were welcomed, he couldn't help but feel wary because that just seemed too nice. Minho was also sure that Chan probably hadn't meant for anyone to snoop around. Not to mention, the door wasn't technically opened but simply cracked. He heard the lock click into place.

Summary
The world seemed to fast forward until he was being woken in the dead of night.
"Chan, get up. You must leave. Hurry. They’re two days early."
He was groggy as his father lead him from their shared cabin. They were tiptoeing barefoot towards the stern.
"Father, where are we going?"
"There’s no time. They are coming."
The deck boards creaked and strained beneath the boots of a crew on their way to murder their captain.
"You must jump. Go."
"But, father." He was trying to wipe the fatigue away. "Wait, what is happening?"
"A mutiny."

Summary
Whoever had killed those sailors knew how to handle a blade but didn’t know how to cover up their own tracks. What kind of person was he up against? The cut on each cadaver’s throat was clean and fatal -- no signs of struggle apparent. Perhaps the tracks would lead to an ambush. Or maybe his opponent was one that feared nothing. As much as he wished it was just him on the ship, it wasn’t. He licked his lips and followed the path painted out for him.

Summary
The next memories flashed before him in a montage. There was cannon fire layered over terrified screams. The clang of weapons meeting in combat could hardly be heard over the painful wails from the fallen. The blood of his crew flowed freely over the deck boards while a sword sank to the hilt in the flesh of his chest. The stab ached but just barely. He blinked without emotion, watching the patch of blood blossom as it stained the fabric of his shirt.

Summary
His vision became blurry and his cheeks were wet with tears. He tried to blink them away. There were bullets raining down around them and the navy men were almost through his wall of furniture. None of it mattered to him, though. Not when he was sharing the last moments of someone’s life with them. It was so different from taking a life. It weighed on him more.

Summary
"I like fun." The child said wistfully.
"Well, then," he patted the back of the younger’s head to signal that it was time to part. "I wish you lots of fun and sparkly stars. Study hard so you can grow up nice and smart, okay?"
"Okay, I promise I will." The younger's voice was so soft, he could barely hear it. "Bye bye."
"Goodbye, Seungminnie."

Summary
It had been too long in his opinion and Changbin had gone alone. No one deserved to be alone. Only once he saw the other, would he feel better.
Changbin was just sitting on the little stone wall out front, bottle perched on his knee and his head tilted towards the sky. The tavern overlooked the bay, giving them a decent view of the port. When Minho was within six feet of the quartermaster, he noticed the pistol in Changbin’s hand.
“Mind if I join you?” Minho asked timidly, not wanting to disturb the peaceful atmosphere.

Summary
Something wasn't right.
There was chaotic splashing. The bath wasn't that deep, it hadn't been that much higher than his belly button -- but someone was clearly struggling in the water. Was someone drowning? Minho was petrified. He wasn't good with urgent issues, unable to function under intense pressure. When he heard Hyunjin cry out, though, he forced himself to move.

Summary
"Where is your necklace?" Seungmin asked suddenly.
Minho bowed his head with guilt.
"It was what those thieves were after." Changbin said solemnly. "They tried to take Minho too, but he fought back. You should have seen him.”
He felt himself blush. He really hadn't done much -- probably wouldn’t have even called it “fighting back” -- but it was nice nonetheless. He didn't miss the slight frown on Seungmin's face, though, as if he had personally gifted the gem to Changbin. It disappeared almost immediately after a second. A memory tugged at the back of his brain but Minho was still too frazzled to figure it out.
