And yet, as he enters the room, briefcase in hand in dress shirt and pants with his hair curtained back over his face, he’s ripping at the seams. Adam, truthfully, hadn’t expected him to come. He’d thought that he would have chickened out in favor of his wife and daughter when he handed him that address and number on a little pink slip in the casual way he does, but he didn’t. It’s not only delicious in the way that Adam gets a sweet lay tonight, but that Lawrence loses his pride in it.

Summary
Lawrence grumbles. He knows. He knows that Adam could make a report about all of this. His wife and kid would find out. He’d lose his job. His life would be over. If he didn’t know Adam better, he wouldn’t discount that comment as merely a joke—but he knows Adam. He trusts Adam. He knows he has no reason to tell anyone than out of the will of his heart. Yet, Lawrence also knows that he has the full power to, and he trusts him not to.
