After much anticipation, Rocky finally gets to perform a minor surgery on Grace to practice. Grace isn't normal about the surgery, and neither of them is normal about the piece of metal that Rocky recovers from him. Or their relationship. Or anything at all.
(Still) medically accurate yearning. Orthopedic intimacy. One titanium plate with a double meaning.
I don't know when it happened, but now he's the person I let cut into my flesh.
He puts down the scalpel and explores the wound with one digit, making a wet sound as he feels for my bone while his other claws hold the retractors.
