Description:

Ars Vivendi, or The Art of Living

"In a world where tomorrow is uncertain, don't take today for granted. Today is where the world is lived, now, at whatever pace it needs to be lived by those choosing each other to live it with. Your mother's tree branch story be damned, Harding. If that's all that hits any of us in the face today? Then it's been a good day."
-- Rooklyn "Rook" ingellvar

Set in the world of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this series covers adventures and romance between Rooklyn and Professor Emmrich Volkarin, senior necromancer of the Mourn Watch. While they've had some similar formative experiences in their early life, their approaches to life are a contrast - Rooklyn's learned to seize the day while Emmrich fears the sunset. Through each other they learn the Art of Living - that living with gratitude, presence, acceptance, trust and love is well worth the price to be paid tomorrow.

Each work should make sense on its own, but offers more in sequence

Notes:

What to Expect

  • These works are presented in the series in chronological order, but I am writing pieces here and there as the mood takes me
  • Please refer to individual works for their specific tags, not every work is the same!
  • My personal preference is definitely fluff paired with humour, adventure, domestic situations - and of course the occasional angst, deep feels and happy endings.
  • Expect gentle, tender romance in a world with bad puns, self-consciousness, self-deprecation.. and who knows what else.
  • I've already brought a Napoleon Dynamite crossover to the table - where we're going, we don't need roads!

My Approach / Caveats

  • I am playing a bit fast and loose with lore and in-game timeline. Things may not always happen in the order you expect or in ways which agree with the universe (I do welcome constructive criticism on lore points, I'm still a learner here)
  • There's a lot of head canon in here, and sometimes I need to make new technology for plot purposes. If so, it's usually thought out in footnotes to avoid breaking the reader's flow.
  • I'm trying to avoid verbatim retelling of events from the game, and will only do it if I think it's necessary or if I have a different take/alternative perspective on events to share
  • If I'm using in-game dialogue, I will try and be verbatim. Sometimes I will skip lines, but I don't wish to change the intent of the in-game words, I prefer to look between them for alternative meanings
