“Commander Zhao.” The head sage did some sort of Fire Nation bow, probably some sign of respect.
“And, Princess Zuko.” Zhao purred, fully ignoring the sage in favor of locking eyes with the girl. “It was a noble effort, but your little smoke screen didn’t work.”
Whilst trapped in Roku’s temple, captured by Zhao, Katara starts to understand Princess Zuko a little better.

“I thought humans weren’t welcome in the Library?” the Avatar asked. He tilted his head a little to the side, in a manner that reminded Zuko a lot of the Library’s resident fox spirits, who also always managed to convey such an innocent, confused look.
“Uh- well- yeah, that’s true. But Master kind of made an exception for me,” Zuko tried to explain, smiling awkwardly. The girl’s eyes narrowed in suspicion, whilst the boy seemed to accept that reasoning, and lowered his weapon. Speaking of which…
“Is that an actual Water Tribe boomerang?”
After Zuko gets banished, he ends up in Wan Shi Tong's Library. Wan Shi Tong, respectfully, says "fuck it" and claims him - sorry, *adopts. Now, Zuko spends his days in the Library, indulging his inner theatre kid and learning about anything he can. Then, three years later, the Gaang drops in.

Summary
When Prince Zuko was five, he would produce his first flames. Bright, roaring fire that licked at the walls of his bedroom as the curtains blazed, tearing through the crimson-colored furniture and burning the room to ash. His parents would find the young boy standing calmly in the center of the blaze, unmoved by the destruction and watching silently as his chambers perished.
Prince Zuko’s younger sister, Princess Azula, would only create her first flames four years later, at the age of seven. Much to her father’s disappointment.
Exploring what it would've been like if Zuko were the prodigy instead of Azula.

The man lifted his face to meet Zuko’s, his gaze wide, and that dread in Zuko’s stomach returned, curling tighter than ever before. The prisoner pushed himself slightly upwards, and let out a short, breathless gasp, “Zuko?”
Zuko froze, eyes bolted onto the man in front of him. The recognition made him sick, made bile rise in the back of his throat as he clawed for an explanation, anything at all that that wasn’t what his mind was landing on. His body screamed for danger, telling him to run now and never turn back, to forget any of this happened.
“How do you know my name?” he pleaded, voice choked as he pulled his hand back. He shook his head, he didn’t want to hear—
“It’s—” A cough, and Zuko could gag.
“It’s me, Zuko.”
Lu Ten didn’t die at the Siege of Ba Sing Se, and was instead captured and held prisoner by the Dai Li.
