Summary
“Yes, Zeze?”
“Um…” His mouth was awfully dry all of a sudden. The entire class turned to look at him. Usually he didn’t contribute other than to make a crass joke – or recently, to remind them of his position as their prince. He wasn’t used to all that attention.“I’m not feeling well either.”
His jaw popped when he spoke.
OR: Magical migraines fucking suck.

Roy finds her on the edge of the main building just as the pale November sun crests the horizon.

When Ryland goes to sleep at night, he sees Eva.
They don’t talk anymore. None of them talk to him anymore. Dimitri and Lokken were kind enough to keep Eva from knocking him out and sending him to space, but Ryland remembers the look they threw at him as they left. Disappointment. Resignation. Hopelessness.
Turns out he really was the only one who didn’t know that he was Plan 3.

Summary
Bane laughs – deep and rumbly, it reminds him of a force of nature. Alfred’s entire body moves with it, swaying in Bane’s grip as he bathes in sadistic joy. It is an earthquake. It is the tilting reality of a dying body.
Alfred’s grip on the pen tightens.
“This is the City of Bane, boy,” Bane starts again, Alfred but a toy in his grasp. “This is a warning to—”

Summary
Now, back in Takamagahara, Bishamon couldn’t stop staring at the name etched into the space between his collarbones. Kazu, written with the Kanji for “calendar”, rested on his chest like the necklace of a lover would. He was still sleeping, exhausted after the months he’d spent protecting her unconscious body. His pajama top was unbuttoned at the collar, so she could keep an eye on his name (on both names), everyone else banned from visiting him in his sickroom.

Summary
Ka Zuigetsu would turn fourteen next month. He wasn’t stupid. He knew how the palace worked, knew what was expected of him and his brother. At his age, he was basically an adult. When his brother had been fourteen, he’d taken his first wife. Lady Ah-Duo.
His new quarters were still foreign to him. Just because he’d intellectually understood that he wasn’t allowed to remain in the Rear Palace now that his father was dead (and he’d lost the protections of childhood) didn’t mean he was ready to cope with the reality of it.
He was a man now, no longer a child.
OR: Faced with the reality of his brother ascending to the throne, Ka Zuigetsu needs to make a choice.

Summary
It’d been two days since Jason called that stupid phone number clinging to the edges of his memory, and he was growing sick of the tracksuit wearing maniac. The kid constantly staring at him with unblinking yellow eyes didn’t really help.
“What is your fucking problem?”Jason growled, the bomb he was trying to assemble a complicated puzzle covering the scruffy coffee table he’d found on a street corner a few weeks ago.
The kid scowled when Jason addressed him. “I’ve never seen someone build a bomb. Sorry for trying to learn something new, I guess. Old fart.” His sarcasm carried the heavy-handedness of a scorned teenager.
OR: When Jason phoned a so-called God to help with his revenge on Batman, he didn't think he would end up babysitting the guy's undead teenager instead.

Another yell forced him to turn his head, one of the blurry shadows moving closer towards him. Shaking his head, Dick willed his eyes to focus. It was a person slowly coming closer towards him, careful to avoid the falling debris and the growing heat.
Dark hair up in a ponytail, golden-black uniform covered in stars, Dick recognized the stranger.
No, not a stranger.
