    Summary

In District 10, life revolves around death. Animals outnumber people in population, slaughter houses punctuate every corner, pistols are kept warm and close, the chemicals from tanneries stick in the back of throats. Harlee Aguilar's entire life wreaks of death, everyone's does in District 10.
But when that looming death becomes her own when the bowl spits out her name for the 61st Hunger Games, can she find that there really is no difference between man and animal?

    Summary

Her earliest memory was the sound of the plains—wind in the grass, the low call of cattle, and the whistle her father taught her. A clear, sharp note that carried far.
She had been born to hunt. In District 10, sharp eyes and steady hands kept you alive, and hers had never failed her. She could bring down a charging steer as easily as she could track a shadow through the tall grass.

But when her brother’s name was called, she stepped forward. Not for glory. Never for glory. They called her the Whistler Marksman in the Capitol, but in her heart, she was only a sister.

And in the arena, she learned that some hunts cost more than skill.

    They cost everything.

    Summary

The 61st Hunger Games was one of the few Hunger Games that President Snow despised. The capital citizens believed it was because the game was rather long and did not have a lot of violent killing, but to the districts it was obvious. Tuli Sprinzen was determined that either her, or her district 10 partner, Angus Black-bear would win and while she was not particularly fond of killing or skilled with anything apart from a knife or a whip, she had a silver tongue.

    Summary

“Say hey to the ferryman for me.” Issac mummers into her ear. He looks up.

The screen on the wall has apparently been focusing on him. It's probably because with the arena dark and the Parade of the fallen just complete, no one else is doing anything. His blue eyes seem to glow from his blood streaked face. His hair already matted with filth after only a day out there. He smiles.

Haymitch feels sick as the odds roll to 1:24.

Haymitch brings home a Victor. But he has some conflicting thoughts about him first.

    Summary

Ampere Shapiro is not beloved. She understands, of course, that being overbearing and ill-tempered is the perfect formula to make an outcast amongst her peers, but she doesn’t particularly like them, either. She is also left alone by her family, which suits her perfectly fine, though it doesn’t help much in assisting with that constant obsessive itch in her brain.

Then the Reaping for the 61st Hunger Games is at hand, and becoming likeable is only the first of many obstacles ahead of Ampere. It certainly doesn’t help that she makes enemies with a charming crowd favorite on her first day in the Capitol.

But the Hunger Games is only one piece of her own personal, dangerous predicament. For in truth, Ampere fights towards autonomy over her own life in more than one way, and winning the Games may not be the resolution she’s looking for.

A sequel-ish and sister fic to Miscreant.

(A note from the author 3 years later! This fic is not done! It may not ever be done! I'm very sorry about that but the real world caught up after the pandemic let me do nothing but write for about a year.)
