DAY 03 - Set Up for Failure
fingerprints | wrongfully arrested |“I warned you”The interrogation room is as dark and uninviting as it was the last time Yu was locked in it. This time, the TV in the corner won’t light up with the yellow of the Midnight Channel. Dojima isn’t interrogating him out of worry, this time. Adachi watches from beside the door, and the strange dim light of the room makes the detective’s eyes seem to shine yellow.
Dojima is quiet, his face twisted in grief. There’s nothing Yu can do to fix things, at this point. Even if it’s a lie, there’s evidence against him. When he meets Adachi’s eyes over Dojima’s shoulder, he’s pretty sure he sees a smug expression on the man’s face.

It is an occasion of celebration, and both Dojima and Adachi are treating it as such in the living room of the Dojima residence.
Yet Yu cannot bring it in him to look up from his plate. The clinks of beer bottles and the sushi glittering in front of him mean nothing. There is only the pool of dread at the bottom of his stomach, tainting any joy he might have found in the moment.

Loki speaks into his ear, telling him to let everything out, to draw blood, to give Joker a worthy opponent. God how he wants to cut the red frills from Joker’s ridiculous black coat, the long tail that's embroidered with gold in a way that must be overkill, how Goro longs to wipe that showman’s smile off his face and replace it with something more violent, something more fitting of his rival.

“Big bro, you're missing the episode!”He goes to push past Adachi but recoils at the thought of psychical contact, ducking around him instead. He barges towards the door, breathing becoming ragged.
“Woah, where are you going in such a rush, Yu-kun?”
He can feel Adachi's eyes on him, all of their eyes on him as he slides the front door open, slamming it shut behind him.
On January 1st, Yu Narukami leaves behind his picture perfect family and vomits clear bile onto the snow.

I replayed Persona 4 Golden on PC recently, and reached the accomplice ending (again).
It reminded me of why the accomplice ending holds such a huge space in my heart.
Twisted, eerie but definitely one to remember.
I thought to myself, how does the future look like for Adachi and Yu, after the accomplice ending?
And this is a piece of work that reflects a figment of my conjecture. -

“No.” I simply replied, “And I doubt they’ll be home anytime this week.”
“That perfect.” Adachi’s tone sounded eerie as he said that. I could picture him smiling menacingly like he did when I foolishly burnt down the threat letters before him. “That would help me chat with my favourite accomplice privately face to face.”
Shivers began to crawl down my spine. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be comfortable with being alone with Adachi ever since I foolishly became his accomplice.
