Summary
Shuichi Saihara is coming into the world of master detectives hot off the trail of a scandal his father left behind, a failed case that ruined his perfect track record. Expectations are high for the young detective with big boots to fill as he is given his first case, dealing with a phantom thief hitting all of Tokyo's hottest spots. With the weight of his family name holding him down Shuichi needs to act fast and try to catch up to the notorious thief before he loses all credibility right out the gate.
His friends believe in him, but the agency doesn't. Most of all he doesn't believe in his ability to play catch up against the quick witted thief, knowing he could be outplayed at any moment. Unable to back away he takes chase, hoping for his big break.

Kokichi Ouma doesnt exactly have a stellar life. A father who walked out he was young, left to barely-present mother who barely even noticed every time he came home bruised and scraped sounds like the text-book definition of some emo kid's backstory. At least, to him it did.
When Shuichi Saihara wriggles his way into his life despite his numerous attempts to push the other boy away, Kokichi finds himself finding someone he can wholly trust alongside something like a real family. He doesn't expect it to last, and like all good things, it never does.
He just goes this time he'll be able to pick up the pieces before it's too late.
