Feelings? Real feelings? Romantic feelings?
She shook her head at herself. They didn’t bear thinking about. She didn’t have time for them, and Erend didn’t expect them of her, and she couldn’t imagine a situation where they would become a real issue she’d have to confront.
So, better to leave them alone. Either they’d grow to become a problem, or they’d go away entirely. Fifty percent wasn’t the type of odds she would usually find herself betting on, but then again, fifty percent didn’t factor in how stubborn Aloy could be. When it looks impossible, look deeper. And then fight like you can win.
This probably wasn’t the exact situation Rost had been talking about, but it worked, nonetheless.
