And now, she’s here, between her first and best friends – and Zoey keeps burying her head in Rumi’s shoulder, whenever she laughs too much; and Mira’s legs are pressed against her own, and the taller girl absentmindedly grabs her hand every now and then.She thinks she might like it - being held like this.

Saying it was impossible. She couldn't admit she missed a demon, missed him enough to want a whole different end for them. They wouldn't get it—they couldn't feel him like this in her bones. Her contract sure didn't cover grieving a demon or having his ghost-soul hijack her life. And since when did anything go her way?

What would it have meant for the Huntrix had the girls found out about Rumi’s secret? Would they have shunned her, tried to kill her, rejected her? Would they have reacted the way Celine had always told Rumi they would? Would Zoey and Mira break up the Huntrix if they found out that the group was set up for the very cause they were fighting? Would they understand and accept her?
Would they invite her to the bath house again?
Would it have made a difference if the Huntrix knew of Rumi’s half-demon origins in the result that caused Jinu’s demise?
After sealing the Honmoon, Rumi doesn’t know how to deal with Jinu’s death and spirals. Zoey and Mira tried being there for her but after finding out their best friend was part demon, the race they’ve always been taught to hate, and kill, they didn’t know what to do or how to behave around her anymore. Zoey convinced Mira to give Rumi some space, still a little bitter about the fact that she didn’t feel safe enough to confide in them. Especially after everything they had been through .. Zoey thought she knew everything there was to know about Rumi, even better than Mira. But some secrets are better left unsaid.

However, as their meetings continued, he unexpectedly began to fall fast. At the same time, Rumi was trying to get information from Jinu about Gwi-ma and uncover more about her own demon origins—especially since spending time with him seemed to ease her vanishing voice. Despite their hidden motives, both of them slowly found themselves genuinely falling for each other.
Unfortunately for Rumi, Mira starts becoming suspicious over their leader's vanishing acts, so she finally confronts her one and one.
