Summary
Bacho lit a cigarette. He watched as the boy—Pavel—struggled to load ammunition into his rifle, with long, elegant fingers that surely couldn’t have ever known real work.
The boy was beautiful, with pale skin and eyes like the sea. Of course it wouldn’t last. Nothing beautiful could last in this barren fucking wasteland. Everything here was shit and mud and rot, and the rot would contaminate everything it touched.
Still, Bacho watched.

I have no excuse for this. Been in my drafts for two months now.
Basically an Alpha/Beta/Omega AU for the series finale.
"(..)His mate was being escorted out of the court room and all Boris could do was watch. He was straining against the guards holding him down. His entire body fighting against the many hands that securely kept him in place, unable to get to Valery..."

Summary
Valery Legasov, brilliant and solitary scientist, lives surrounded by what is never spoken: in laboratories, in empty hallways, in thoughts left unsaid. Boris Shcherbina, hardened statesman, appears to be his opposite—loud voice, imposing presence. Yet between them, during and after Chernobyl, a quiet and unshakable bond takes root.
In a world that erases names and rewrites memory, all that remains is the trace of gestures, a voice on tape, a hammock still swaying in the wind.
A love never spoken, yet perfectly clear. A loyalty that defies time, guilt, and death.[...] “Maybe… because I know you’ll leave. Or maybe I will. Or both” Boris says quietly, like a confession. “And it scares me that the memory of you… of us, might be enough for me. More than your presence.”
Valery doesn’t answer. He looks at him. One of those looks that weighs heavy, holding back every word that wants to burst out but doesn’t dare.
“I don’t want to be a memory” he murmurs after a long pause. “But I don’t know if I know how to be anything else. Not in this world. Not in the life we’ve been given.”-

Summary
This story takes place in an AU in which no accident has happened. Valery and Boris are being sent to Chernobyl by Gorbachev in order to inspect the power plant’s design and how it is managed. After their first meeting in the Kremlin (which goes about the same as in the show), they find themselves on board of a helicopter heading to Pripyat’. A similar argument regarding the course of the helicopter ensues and Valery ends up tumbling in quite a similar way toward Boris. Also in this AU, no soldiers are accompanying them and Valery is wearing his light blue suit.
