    All it took was once.

    It might be too late, and withdrawal might kill her, but– she thinks of back when she was still a little girl. There was an old Warden that passed through her village, guided along by a younger and grim-faced member of their order. The older sometimes seemed unaware, often distantly humming along to some odd, crooked tune in the short time they stayed. The song of this new lyrium sounds like it. Too much like it. Soon you won’t need to stop to hear it.

    Day 1: Spite: Rook has an interesting offer for Lucanis when Spite gets upset during their first conversation in the pantry.

    Day 2: Lighthouse: Lucanis and Neve meet late at night in the Lighthouse Kitchen, making some new memories of this strange place as they fall in love over coffee and goodberry pie.

    Day 3: An annotated Excerpt from Histories of our Contemporary World Volume 2: Antiva, a work by Antivan Royal Scholar, Brother Girard Fulgeno

    Day 4: Lucanis, Neve and their little one, spend time reading their mail in their home in Treviso in a cozy moment.

    Day 5: Lucanis reads a passage about Wyvern from a book written by Rook's dead wife in the presence of Viago.

    Day 6: Lucanis catches Rook reading a letter from Treviso, only Rook seems to be foaming at the mouth at the words on the page, rambling on hatefully about the content and the author. The conversation that follows reveals the depths Rook has sunk to and how it mirrors some things within Lucanis. The intervention set Xen de Rivan on the right path.

    Day 7: Neve has a bit of a rough evening and Lucanis makes sure to make it all better. (Smut!)

    You know how I’ve been trying to find the right person for this job for years? (One thing I’ll say for Chuckles is at least he moves slow, compared to our measly mortal existences. Not even shitting you when I say that sometimes it feels like he’s working on my schedule. I know that sounds crazy.)

    I think I found somebody.

    Barn (“Baby”) Ingellvar, code name Rook, is a trans man dwarf, former Legionnaire, and the Grand Necropolis’s favorite undead foundling. Rook navigates relationships, respectability, and the end of the world. Emmrich intends on a charming courtship, and gets kicked in the face with an existential crisis instead. And Harding? Harding becomes the Blight. Don’t worry! It’s a good thing.

    A Veilguard and post-Veilguard fix-it fic, told (at first) through new codex letters and party banter. The unconventional format has a storytelling function, and changes as the Titans start to wake up. Rook’s romance arc is V-shaped polyamory: Rook/Harding and Rook/Emmrich, separately.
