The words echo in Ace's head like a mantra, inescapable and horrifying. Three words that are worse than anything Impel Down had thrown at him so far, worse than the jeers and the torture, worse than the seastone exhaustion and the knowledge of his impending death.
Gramps says the words with a finality that tells Ace he is not going to do anything, that he's not even going to try and help Lu' even if he is the baby of the family, even if he doesn't deserve this - even if he wasn't born with cursed blood in his veins.

In Sabaody, Kuma is too slow to send Luffy away as well and the Strawhat Captain is slated for execution alongside Firefist Ace when news of his parentage breaks out. Law knows the rumors, the stories, has even seen the results himself and yet he still doesn't much trust the supposed miracle letter sender from Sabaody. It's true that after going to the end of the world and back - or more accurately being dragged by Lu- ya at times - nothing should quite be impossible anymore.
And yet... A girl with a Devil fruit that is able to send a letter anywhere - everywhere - as long as the name of the recipient is on the letter and the sender is genuine in their intentions sounds a bit too much like a fairytale. It would be even more foolish to believe she truly send a letter to anyone, even if that person had died.
Still, Law finds himself hoping.

On the third day. The corpse twitched.
All at once. The crunch of bones first, crackling and popping like the escaping of air in joints. Crawling out from the fatal wound, pure white as if bleached by the sun. The periosteum came next, fibrous and fatty to protect the new formations. Nerves and sinew pulsed and crawled along like a fungus. Fat and musculature inched along in layers. Organs, colorful and bare. Skin grew like bacteria in a petri dish, cultured along different spots and spreading outwards. Hair forced itself outward.
On the third day, there were two bodies in the alley.

Bartholomew Kuma's plan was to send the Straw Hats where they could get stronger, only, instead of sending Usopp to the island of plants and Luffy to the island of a fellow Warlord; he made the quick decision to send the two to an Emperor of the Seas who could help them persevere.

Alone and disliked by the town, this was what she thought her life would be until the day she died in some back alley from sickness or murder. Buggy never had any reason to dream.

Explosions, theatrics, to fill the silence he still has nightmares from. The silence of death collecting souls after a war, crying over the lost souls. He searched for peace in the East Blue, letting people think that he was weak, pathetic really. How he ended up on the Grand Line again, bullshitting his way to the title of a Yonko (he could hear the red bastard's laugh from across the sea and for once he couldn't blame him) and now on a battle field, having just taken a deadly hit, that was meant for Monkey D. Luffy, he truly didn't know.
But hey, at least he got a flashy exit out of this sorry excuse for a life, right? -

Armed with a stolen second chance, a smartphone full of bizarre new rules and a kitchenette that’s seen better days, he’ll carve a new legacy - one chaotic livestream at a time.
(Or: Reincarnated Buggy decided to grace the internet with his presence, and, naturally, fame followed. Though, even he admits the sheer adoration is a bit much. And the real plot twist is becoming a single dad to a trash-goblin Luffy.)
