Summary
It has been 17 years since the evil terrorist organization Orchis had been destroyed by the X-Men, with anti-mutant leaders in hiding, and their doomsday machine Nimrod seemingly missing, an uneasy peace has settled between man and mutant. The living island-nation of Krakoa has seen continued prosperity, and with this prosperity comes a new generation of mutants, many of whom are eager to prove themselves dedicated to the cause of protecting mutantkind.
Young Ruby Summers, too, is eager to prove herself, and live up to the legacy of her family, she is placed into leadership of a new, small team of young mutants who will carry on the X-Men's goal of protecting both humanity and mutantdom, to bridge the divide between the two species. The team must learn to work together if they are to succeed and graduate to X-Men status, discovering what it means to be a true leader in a fantastical coming-of-age story.
