The thing about secrets that Red would say he hates the most is the fact that lying and deflecting is a key component in keeping them. Red would also say that he respects his brother's privacy, so he understands why they kept Fours secrets, but that didn't change the fact that Red hates lying.
So Red had no choice but to watch as his brothers lie, lie, lie and hope that they wouldn't end up in “their” Hyrule, because no matter what his brothers say, it's hard to scheme and lie when Four wouldn't be able to hide the fact that he knew almost nothing about his time, and his time knew almost nothing about him.

I'm doing an in-depth character—and trauma—study, to explore the idea of a single hero of the Four Sword (Four from Jojo56830's Linked Universe AU is my absolute fave because I love the Four Swords manga and The Minish Cap) where his other selves aren't the result of arbitrary splits made by the Four Sword's magic, but the result of a traumatized Link developing Dissociative Identity Disorder.
So here's a retelling of Four Swords (anniversary edition!) featuring a Link with multiple personalities as a result of his adventures!This story (and all my others) are now on official mental health hiatus.
