Summary
The lines connecting Echidna’s body to her bones all flinch at the same time, nerves pulsing with energy, and her chair scrapes loudly against the floor as she stands, overtaken by the urge to move. The need to dance bubbles out of her chest, to whirl and twist and bounce even though she has two left feet and a dearth of relevant experience, to dart across the crowded room and twirl in parallel at the dancer’s side, to catch hold of her ribbons and use them to paint arcing lines in the air, trailing after the two of them as they move in tandem.
Tonight, at the bar Echidna frequents, there's a dancer.

Klein’s mind was swimming in all of the future possibilities for Etruria. They could survive the upcoming battle, but what was next? It scared him deeply, to wonder what would become of his country once the war ended. There was a weird sort of stability in chaos—a weird and unending change that was a constant in and of itself. The dangers of wars were many, and he didn't wish for this war to be prolonged any further, but the sense of solace and consistency was almost lulling him. He was watching out for his life on the battlefield, constantly, but it was something adrenaline could carry him through. Politics, however? Those were of a trickier sort.

Summary
Klein surely would have done something about the cruelties if he was here. He wouldn’t have allowed it, even tacitly, even silently or unwillingly. His father would not have allowed it.
But these were hopes, not certainties, and hope was a useless thing in a prince. Hope belonged to the people, to those who deserved peaceful lives and were denied them; a prince existed to make those futile, feeble hopes reality. If that wasn’t the case, what good was he and all his fine lessons in leadership and action?
Hidden on the islands occupied by his father's army while he recuperates from the attempt on his life, Elffin learns a little of fortune-telling from the dancer girl who accompanied him from the mainland.

Summary
It's been twenty years since the last war, and Elibe has enjoyed a time of relative peace. Now an adult, Hugh has left home to pursue his dream of performing in every royal court on the continent... as soon as he pays back the gambling debts he's racked up, anyway. Taking a temporary job contract in Bern City to try and dig himself out of the debt hole, Hugh meets a group of people whom he'll come to know as good friends. They all have different goals and destinations, but they share a love of music, and that's a powerful thing. However, what begins as a trip to Ilia to check on its king and queen soon proves to involve far more than that, which could spell danger not just for himself, but to Elibe itself. But that's what friends are for, right?

“perceval” elffin- no, prince mildain starts, and even amongst the clamor of battle resounding around them, it is met by an absolute silence. no titles, even if those are becoming of the both of them. no longer, the bard had whispered on the brink of death, and for now, he thinks, they may be without. it is a name he has wished to speak, in longing for times far behind them, simpler ones, of boys about the castle, finding times to sneak and be alone, away from all such responsibilities (even if the knight would readily accept them with an ease, but both elffin and mildain wish the two could simply be men). the lance is held to him at first, some righteous fury initially in the knight’s eyes, but it falls nearly the moment that mildain speaks (and oh he has missed this too). but the weapon is still drawn. mildain will forgive him for this, of course. mildain will forgive perceval of anything he has done in only the most blessed of loyalty and anguish. “it is good to see you again.” for the year gone without the other, mildain smiles, small and sweet, enough to say i’ve missed you for an eternity.
