It felt like time slowed down.
The taller boy looked up at Max as they passed, eyes widening as he took in Max’s fur cloak and leather gloves, the clearly expensive horse.
And Max’s heart stopped.
The kid looked like- he looked- He-
'Yakko?'
Time sped back up and, as the guard caught up, Max made a split-second decision.
He moved his horse forward, straight into the guard’s path.

Max doesn't want to visit Warnerstock. He doesn't want to make nice with King Salazar, but needs must. But when it gets too much he flees into Acme Falls.
How was he supposed to know he'd meet the missing Warner siblings? He doesn't realise, not at first.
Not until news of Salazar's defeat reaches Fantasia. Not until they're all invited to Yakko's coronation.

He is employed as the studio psychiatrist of the Warner Bros. movie lot, where he works alongside his colleague and dear friend, Heloise Nerz. His job requires him to become incredibly familiar with the lot's toons and their unique struggles. When Otto and Heloise find three child toons locked in the studio water tower, they know that they need to do whatever it takes to bring about change for the WB toon population and to protect the forgotten Warners.
This fic is rated G but there is some mild language. This fic also discusses homophobia and transphobia, but there will be content warnings in the beginning notes of the chapters that contain those topics.
