Lowkey Summer I Turned Pretty Inspired lolI'll always believe I left a part of myself in San Diego that fateful summer.
The air was sweltering and crisp, and it smelled like salt.
Seagulls cawed in the air.
The car ride up was hell. My whole family was packed in like sardines, all my siblings and I squeezed in the back, jammed between a car seat holding a screaming baby Rodney, and an equally annoying five-year-old Rachel.
I had my headphones in, desperately trying to drown out The Wheels on the Bus obnoxiously blasting on the tablet beside me.
The grating piercing sound of crying layered with my dad’s jerky, swerving driving had my stomach twisted into knots.
Nausea rolled through me, growing heavier with each bump, threatening to spill over.
Between the heat, the noise, and the movement, in a last-ditch attempt to stay sane, I put on my headphones and turned up the smiths.
The soft, hazy voice of Morrissey drifted into my ears, and the warmth of the sun soaking through the window lulled me into a hot, deep sleep.- Language:

In the years before they killed Pennywise, in the long epic of waiting that had been Mike Hanlon’s life, he had thought that after the monster’s death, everything would be easy. He had already done the hardest things, made the most difficult decisions. And in a way that had come true; things had settled simply and amazingly. Bill had come back for him, and they had built a home together. But it also turned out that the sky didn't fall and the Heavens didn't start singing his praises. His life now was not so deeply different from his life in those interminable years.
For Mike, part of staying behind in Derry was alternating between clinging to and doubting his childhood faith convictions. Now, after the devil has been spurned and he is miraculously still alive, he's got to learn to live with it – with all of it.
