“Who are you?” Keith demanded, excitedly putting his free hand to his cheek. “What’s your name?”
“Eat the cracker, Keith.”
“Did god send you? Are you an angel?” Keith didn’t look very frightened as this concept of being dead worked its way out of him. Lance ran a hand through his own hair, smiling wryly.
“Please, eat the cracker, Keith.”
“What’s your name?” Keith’s voice cracked, desperately, excitedly. “Please. Who are you?”
“My name is Lance,” Lance paused, nerves sitting uncomfortably in the bottom of his stomach– deep, in the part he never searched. He licked his lips and ran a hand through his unwashed hair. “I’m, um, I’m your fiancé.”

And as Lance is finding after waking up from his coma, eight months is a long, long time. Everything has changed. Everyone has changed. And while no one will come right out and say it, he knows. “Hey Lance,” she said easily, stepping into his room and Lance frowned as he watched her. “Hunk and I managed to hook up a movie player, so we’re gonna all watch some old Altean movies and have a sleep over,” she said. That wasn’t an invitation, she just said it like she assumed Lance would come with her. Of course he would. Why wouldn’t he?
But why would they want him there? He’d probably just end up talking through the movie and snoring all night anyway, and they’d wish they never invited him. They were probably only inviting him to be polite, anyway; in case his feelings got hurt when he found out the next day that they’d done that without him.
“I uh, I’m not actually feeling too great,” he said with an apologetic smile. “I think I’m gonna have to pass and just get an early night, instead. Next time?” He could just save them the trouble. He didn’t want to go and they didn’t want him there.

Lance's attention was now frozen on her. Her face inches from his he couldn't see anything but the sheet of dark hair, pale shoulders, a glittering red dress, the thigh slit nearly at her hip.
Struggling to keep his jaw from hitting the floor he realized. This woman was human, an actual human woman. Thoughts spinning he watched her pull back.
That low cut top was far past distracting, her lithe figure zipped into a form fitting dress.
Lights flitting across them for a single second Lance could see her face. Pale, violet eyes were black lined, blinking over scarlet lips, a doll face caked in makeup.
The bowed lips curled. "What are you doing here?" Keith hissed through a grit smile.
"Holy quiznack," Lance couldn't breathe, something in him waging a war.
Keith all but snarled.
Lance flinched, watching Keith pull up the skirt to a thigh holster. Its contents were hidden in small tubes.
"What's that?"
Keith raised an eyebrow and pulled out a tube of lipstick.
"Wait, what are you-"
"Hold still."
Or Keith is on an undercover mission for the Blade. Lance finds himself very out of sorts about it all.

The paladins make a diplomatic visit to a planet with sexual dimorphism roughly opposite that of Earth. Women are larger and more powerful, while men are leaner and smaller. Cue their horror at gaunt, sickly Pidge and mild disgust with the ’womanly’ Shiro. Lance hits the sweet spot. He's got the build and features to draw the eyes and the charm to keep them. Their hosts are quite taken with him, in particular the daughter of the queen, whose forwardness is a comic reversal of Lance’s usual dynamic with women. Lance likes the attention and finds her intriguing, but eventually things take a discomforting turn.
Lance tried to step around her, wanting to walk away from a conversation that seemed less and less likely to end well, but Leh’n seized his wrist before he could. Her grip was tight, and freeing himself would require an act of aggression, which he still wanted to avoid. ‘Think of the mission, of how important it is to get the castle up and running again,’ he coached himself.
Still, that did nothing to stop his blood pressure from skyrocketing as Leh’n leaned closer and said. “I am not accustomed to reluctance.”
