Before they arrived at the Blue Mountain and swore allegiance to Thorin Oakensheild, Bofur was just a toymaker, and Bombur was just a cook. They had no home to call their own, and so they traveled the towns of men, plying their trade and earning what they could.
But men are not always kind to itinerant dwarves, especially those that don't want to fight back. For all his great size, Bombur isn't a fighter. Bofur is, when he has to be. But first and foremost, he's a brother, and his first priority is dusting Bombur off and getting his walking again.
