Summary
Adam walked into Ben's hotel room wearing a navy suit and light blue shirt. He started to say to Ben "You look nice-" but got cut off.
"Oh my god, Adam. Why are you wearing the exact same thing to the Streamys you wore to our event on Friday?"
Adam sighed, "I'm not. This is a different blazer, my shirt was white on Friday-"
"Yeah yeah, navy suit, boring shirt," Ben said gesturing to Adam's clothes, "It's literally the same thing."
"You get annoyed with any comments I have about your clothes. So why are you ragging on mine?"
"Anything negative you say about what I'm wearing is stifling my self-expression. Me on the other hand, I'm just trying to be a good friend and nudge you out of your comfort zone a little."

Summary
The rain had died down with only ten minutes until the train back to Tokyo. They were sitting in the small, indoor waiting area, but Sam wanted one last look at the town before they left. So Adam followed him back to the streets of Yairo.
Halfway down the stairs, Adam heard a jingling noise. He looked around to see if he had missed some wind chimes. Then, just as Sam reached the ground, a small dog barrelled out from a side street and collided with him. The dog hopped up on his hind legs, just barely touching Sam's knee. Sam laughed, reached down, and started petting his head. "Where did you come from?" he asked the dog.

Summary
Adam and Sam were sitting in the hotel lobby. It was just after five in the morning and they were waiting for Ben to get finish getting ready. Adam was leaning against his hand over the arm of the chair looking like he might fall asleep while Sam was ready to get up and go play tag as soon as Ben appeared.
They heard the ding of the elevator behind Adam's chair and Ben came out saying "Good morning, guys."
Sam glanced up at Ben then back at Adam and started snickering.

Summary
Adam's phone rang. He had been walking through the Paris streets in his disguise ready for Ben and Sam to tag him at any moment. To his surprise, the caller ID read "Sam". The only reasons he could think of for Sam to call him were a series of escalating emergencies. He could feel his anxiety ramp up as he swiped his phone. "Sam? What's going on?"
He could hear Sam speaking French to someone before he answered, "Sorry, the nurse just left."
"Nurse?!" His voice rose half an octave. "Where are you? What happened?"
"ER. A car accident. My leg's messed up. Ben was unconscious going into ambulance-"
Ben? Unconscious? His Ben? That can't be right. He was just with Ben earlier today and he was fine. He has to be fine.

"I'm so glad we're done editing." Ben said falling onto the couch where Adam was sitting.
"Me too." Adam sighed. "Like I love our show, but it reaches a point each season where I never want to look at your face or my face or Sam's face on a computer screen ever again."
"Or Scotty's face."
"I don't mind his as much, I'm not going to have to look at him again come next season."
"He was a great guest wasn't he?"
"They've all been great, but he was always giving 100% to the game plus he got a ton of footage."
"Yup, we got to look at... a lot of Scotty and Sam." Ben said. They were both silent for a minute taking in Ben's implication.
"Uhh... so do you want to talk about the uh... elephant in the room?"

Summary
Changing dæmon shapes was a childhood practice. One that human and soul alike grow out of, the age of puberty reached and dæmon settling in a form that felt right. Sam’s parents had reptiles, a western hognose snake and an iguana respectively. His childhood best friend had a rabbit, and his favourite university professor had a cat, a Russian Blue to be exact. The dæmon’s shape fit the human’s personality, whether brave and fearless, loyal and loving, or wise and mature, the form represented a soul’s destiny, who they would really be.
So Sam’s dæmon, Karina, changing shape once again for the first time in over a decade was certainly an abnormality.

"Sucks about Adam's ankle," Ben said, "I know he was looking forward to another morning of skiing with you."
"Yeah, we should figure out something we all can do together tomorrow. Unless..." Sam got a twinkle in his eye that made Ben nervous. "I could teach you how to ski!"
"Hold on Sam." That was not where Ben thought the plan was going. "You just said all together. We can't leave poor Adam alone."
"Let him teach you to ski, Ben," Adam shouted from the other room "There's a good view of the bunny slope from one of the lounges at the ski lodge. If I have to spend tomorrow there, I at least want to be entertained."

Summary
Closing his eyes, he revelled in his success, the way that he’d already gone through so much that day and surviving this on top almost made it the most terrifying day of his life so far.
The noises didn’t slow though, neither did they grow more distant, a lack of interest. It worried him. And the sight he saw upon opening his eyes only served to deepen that worry.
There was more than one. Hundreds, even. Coming out from houses along the streets looking the same with pale grey skin and identifiable human features. One he spotted looked like a young girl with long blonde hair, and another like a businessman, cropped brown hair and a heavily ruined suit. A sluggish nature came about them, their natural non-chasing stance of relaxed shoulders and a semi-limp neck, heads rolling about in their position.

"Why did you tell the waiter it's our two year anniversary?" Sam said as he yanked his hand away.
"Well I would have said it was our five year anniversary, but I didn't want to look like a cradle-robber," said Brian.
"Cradle-robber?!" Sam took a deep breath and grumbled, "You know that's not what I was asking."
"I know, I really just want the free cake. This feels like a restaurant that has very good free anniversary cake."

"I thought we cancelled the hiking challenge," Ben said to Adam, panting, as they climbed down the small hill past some food stalls.
"This heat wave sucks so much," Adam said back, "And it's only May, fuck climate change!"
On the bus ride to the amusement park they finished their carnival game research; double checking which games are almost always rigged and which games are entirely luck. They really need something skill based, something they could both win fast to complete this challenge and get back into some air conditioning.
They finally reached the game area and started looking around. All these games were in more direct sunlight than Ben had hoped. This challenge was already replacing a kayaking challenge, he really didn't want then to have to cancel this one too.

Summary
The five minutes of the challenge were almost up and Sam and Brian were figuring out their camera angles. Brian muttered to Sam, "Have you eaten enough today? You seem off."
Sam whispered to Brain, "Just make sure you've got your camera focused on Ben," as he tried to calm his body down to be able to steadily film Adam.
Trying to hide the anxiety in his voice, Sam started his countdown. "3..." Still blindfolded, Ben and Adam both reached into their pockets. "2..." They both knelt down on one knee. "1" They both took off their blindfolds and pulled out a ring.

Summary
Despite his dæmon being a guinea pig, and the typical association that came with having them - sacrifice, test subject, bearer of pain - Joseph would argue he was in a scenario that others wished they could be in. Amsterdam was a beautiful place and he was in the middle of racing around the world with one of his best friends.
