Sometimes Emma Swan wonders why everyone else seems so unfazed by the world they live in, where mice can sew, mirrors can speak, and a frog can have a better social life than Emma herself. With so much nonsense to avoid, it’s no wonder some people decide to give up and live as roving murderers who expect to be paid per dragon.

Thanks to Lily, she doesn’t even have to bother with the murderizing. Dragonslaying is a lot more convenient when you can recycle the dragon.
“I still say we should lay low for a while,” Emma tells her partner. “We can't overdo it. People will start wondering where all the dragons are coming from. And why they all look exactly the same.”

The words hung on the air for a moment. Regina took them in, swallowed them like an overgrown pill. She looked over Emma, the way her loose blonde curls fell over the shoulders which had been turned towards her in full attention.
‘And, of course, I’m sheriff.’ She smiled, flexing the badge.
When the Mayor opened her mouth to reply, her words were stolen. She blinked back tears, opening and closing her mouth, a fish gasping for air having been flung from the comfort of water, of hatred.
Emma started the car again and the trance was broken. Unable to look upon the Saviour any more, Regina stared out of the window as the town flew by. Her mind still couldn’t process what had been said. Maybe this was how Emma would hold her head down, Regina thought, the sickness being her guilt, the firm hand being revolting kindness.
