The two end up taking on danger alone, and as always, Vili gets himself into trouble, and the only one foolish enough to get him out of it is Eivor. As the two flee to an abandoned longhouse in the midst of a settlement overrun by danger - Vili’s recklessness and Eivor’s restraint finally snap.

In the year of 855, a celebration was taken place for peace and friendship. A young girl named Arnora Varinsdottir along with her older twin brother Eivor were given a task to give a ring to the king, once their task was completed the celebration would have continued but an unexpected attack from Kjotve and his warriors took everyone by surprise. Within the fight Arnora was separated from Eivor and her mother; within the battle she would have been cut down but Sigurd saved her in time so she could run away. But during her running she was caught within a fire in a building that collapsed on itself from the flames, giving her a burn that now covers her face on the left side while also being part blind in her left eye. What shall happen once she returns to her old clan? Will people remember her? Will her brother even believe that she is his sister? What will happen when she sees her childhood crush Sigurd? Will things turn for the worse because of her fate? Or will she find the happiness she longed to have for years?

Summary

Summary
Sigurd and Eivor are as close as two brothers can be and, as young teens, life seems good and full of adventure. As they grow, the world changes around them and their perspectives shift as things and people come between them. Eivor finds himself in the arms of Vili Hemmingson, a childhood friend and confidant. He clumsily explores his desires whilst Sigurd watches from the sidelines, burning with a jealousy that he doesn't understand. Eventually, both boys grow into men and their mutual desire can no longer be ignored, despite what it might mean for their brotherhood.
The story follows the years previous to the game as Eivor turns into a young man and Sigurd tries to figure out his new-found feelings for his brother. Slow burn as we will start when Eivor is just 14 and go through the years to Eivor becoming an adult. First two parts will almost exclusively focus on Vili/Eivor but there is an undercurrent of Eivor/Sigurd throughout.

Vili understood why Eivor had said it. Something more between them would have never worked; Vili was to become jarl and lead his clan while Eivor was to continue scouting England for new alliances. Eivor had known they would be apart more often than not and wished to avoid putting them through that. That was why he said those words, Vili told himself repeatedly, afraid to imagine any other reason why he would have kept them from becoming anything more than dear friends. He understood why Eivor had done so, but that never made the memory hurt any less.
