And there were no wings sprouting from his back. Ah, so Max hadn’t missed them earlier! They hadn’t been there. His gaze fell to the dragon’s tail. Black scales shined ominously on top, and lovely yellow ones beneath– almost like a glimmer of hope in the darkness. Stunning.
Max was just thinking out loud when he muttered, “You really are a dragon… that’s so…”
The dragon boy flinched then shut his eyes, prepared for the worst. They sprang open again once the shouting began.
“Cool!” Max yelled. He balled his hands into fists and hurried closer to the dragon. Max was far too excited to contain a single thought. “Wow, look at your tail! Do you have fangs? Can I see them? What about claws? Where’d your wings go? Do you like flying? Oh, your eyes are even nicer than I thought they were! They, like, swirl with magic power! Wow!”
“I’m Max. Are you all right, um…?”

All things considered, it doesn’t end up too terribly for Mash. As for the rest of them, Lance falls victim to a grave misunderstanding, Dot and Finn become partners in crime, and Lemon starts a massive underground bidding war.
They all become a bit of a school-wide sensation, unfortunately.
