"I don't want to talk about it," was the first thing Ken said when Daisuke climbed to the main level.
Daisuke took one glance at the kitchen and winced at the state it was in. "I was gone for an hour," he said, a bag of groceries tucked under one arm. "How did you manage to do this to my kitchen in an hour?"
Ken scowled. "Oh, it's your kitchen now?"
He cocked his head. "I am the only one who can use it without trying to burn the whole house down."
OR
Ken has never been great in the kitchen, but he's had some particularly bad luck lately. And if he weren't so close to setting himself on fire or burning down their townhouse, Daisuke would find his attempts to cook hilarious. (Okay, so it's a little bit funny.)

For a long moment, Ken didn't say anything; he didn't even look at him. He burrowed into his blankets and pressed against the wall behind him, trying to bury himself, to hide.

Daisuke scratched his chin and kicked his feet around for a few seconds. Ken really did need to leave, but somehow Daisuke had the power to root him to the ground at a moment’s notice.
Ken nodded slowly. Even in the dim glow of the streetlights, Daisuke’s hair matched the leaves of the nearby crimson queen maple tree. Ken wished he could study this further, to see if Daisuke’s eyes matched it too. He wanted to wait until sunrise to see both the tree and his friend in full, glorious color.
He hadn’t seen Daisuke since last month, disappointingly never getting to compare his hair to the leaves of the trees that were now completely bare. But the image of him smiling while telling Ken to take care of himself– that had been enough to get him through even the toughest of November’s cases.
Ken wasn’t so dense to not understand what that meant. He had feelings about Daisuke. For Daisuke. Romantic feelings. The kind that Ken had occasionally wondered throughout his life if he would ever feel for someone else. He would hold these feelings inside for now, until he figured out what to do with them.
Arriving at Ichiban Ramen before Daisuke, Ken decided to sit down at a booth instead of a counter. He didn’t pull his overcoat off just yet, letting Minomon bury himself into Ken’s side, still cold from their brief walk from the station to the restaurant.
Anyways this was really really good and I love yearning Ken so much, with the handholding and keeping a cracker wrapper in his drawer ahaha.

Ken blinked at him for a long minute before saying, "But then you'll be cold, Daisuke."
"What are you talking about? I don't get cold." But when he received nothing but a glare, he huffed. "Ken, I'm not offering."
Delicate black eyebrows jutted downward in confusion. "What do you—?"
"I'm telling," Daisuke said, and he grabbed Ken's wrist and pushed it through the arm hole. "I'm the leader, remember? And I'm pulling rank."

Even Ken's breath shook. "Don't you always," he mumbled, leaning into the touch, letting his eyes fall shut. "Hmmmmm…'m tired."
"Hey!" Daisuke leaned down, pinching his cheek. "Can't sleep, Ken. Gotta stay awake."
His eyes fluttered open again but only just. "Keep me awake?"
