Chief of Police Nick Monohan has spent the last five years in The Gates as a vampire after an accident that left little other options for his survival, and he has basically maintained a 'vegan' diet up till now (feeding exclusively from blood packs instead of humans). Unfortunately, his source of blood is out of the country and delayed in returning home, and his hunger is getting worse with every passing day...and his secretary is about to volunteer to tide him over in the mean time.
