Summary
Juno feels a wave of dizziness hit him and the package shakes in his hands. He throws it on the table and sits down. “Fuck, I am not the right person for this.” Jet had been sober for seven years. Juno puts his face in his hands and curses their captors even more colourfully than before. “Okay.” What would Rita do? “I’m gonna throw this shit out and we’re gonna suffer together for a few days and then it will be, like, a cute bonding thing for us because we’ll have the same sobriety milestones after this. How does that sound?”

"Why would I point it out if I had stolen it, Juno?"
"I dunno, some kind of... bragging, or something."
"To the museum's curator, perhaps," Nureyev shrugged, "Not to a detective with such a keen eye."
"So you're telling me there are two thieves here?" Juno groaned, electing to ignore the compliment.
"Seems you have your work cut out for you." Nureyev chuckled.

Juno looks back at the dancers once more and Nureyev feels his heart ache in recognition, in kinship. Nureyev must have worn that look when he heard the music floating through the streets of New Kinshasa. The mind knows they cannot return, but the heart still reaches.

Summary
“Juno, look at me.” He knew Nureyev was fast, but that was ridiculous. It must be taking his memories, too. The thief’s calloused hands are on his cheeks, wiping away tears they both only now became aware of.
Juno looks through his blurry eye at the soft hair and crooked, perfect nose of the man he loves. “Run,” he begs.
“Why?”
Juno growls and wastes another precious, free moment. “The THEIA. It’s -” He begins to press at his empty eye socket, scratch at the back of his neck. It’s somewhere. He needs to find it while it’s dormant. “Go, Nureyev, I don’t know what it will make me -”
"It was a dream, my love."

Summary
He had always been a solitary figure- aside from a brief period in his teens, he had always been on his own. He didn’t have anyone else and he didn’t need anyone else. Allowing people into one’s life just gives them opportunities to fail you, and with a criminal history as extensive as Peter Nureyev’s? Not a risk worth taking.
And yet- something was missing. He had wealth, if he wanted it. Prestige he could fake well enough to convince the room if need be. Infamy in bounds, though very little of it was tied to his name.
Connection, though. It wasn’t something he wanted. He shouldn’t need it. That was for fools, something used to trick people into staring into your eyes while you swipe the bracelet off their wrist. Food, water, shelter; those were necessities. Connection was a frivolity.
And yet…

Summary
Any other occasion that Juno had caught Peter examining himself so closely, he might have taken the opportunity to tease his boyfriend for his vanity. But it was clear that this was not so simple. Peter’s head was tilted back, chin pushed forward; his mouth was held wide open, one corner of his lips pulled up into a sneer, or a snarl. He was holding what looked like a metal nail-file tight between his manicured fingertips, buffing it steadily against the exposed point of his long incisor. It was the source of the sound Juno had heard - not scratching, he realised, but scraping.
More specifically, sharpening.
Maybe it wouldn’t have been obvious to most, but Juno knew Nureyev well enough by now to read shock and embarrassment all over his face as he noticed he was being watched.

Summary
“You’re gonna be a Siren, aren’t you?” Benten had laughed, “Don’t look at me like that. I see how you love your Songs, Super Steel!”
“They’re not mine,” he had argued, but hadn’t let go of Benten’s hand when he pulled him into a dance, coaxing a Song from Juno easily.
Because no matter how hard Juno wanted to believe that those Songs were his mother’s, that he was nothing like the Siren she was, he knew their melodies had already carved themselves into his bones the same way they had Benzaiten’s. But Benten didn’t feel the urge to Sing like he did, didn’t need to create the music with his veins and lungs, he danced instead. Maybe it was a mark against Juno’s character, how he couldn’t rip himself from the Song in his blood like Benten could. Maybe it was just how Benten was, how he found freedom in dancing with his human body just as much as flying in his avian form.
Not that any of them could fly very high, or very far, without fear of someone seeing them. Swans shouldn’t exist on Mars, after all.Series

Summary
There are far too many people in here. That’s the main thing Juno was thinking. It was a bit hard to think with all the alcohol flooding his system, and that’s about the best he’s got. He was being jostled left and right, taking elbows to the ribs, stumbling toes scuffing his boots, and a frankly ridiculous number of drinks sloshed on his shirt. He’d lost count by that point.
The bars he’s used to are much less populated, though he supposed this was more of a club. And he shouldn’t be surprised, either. Cass had told him it was going to be loud, he just hadn’t been quite prepared for how loud.
At least they had alcohol.

"Juno pulled his knees closer to his chest, squeezing his eyes tight. He was sitting in the middle of his kitchen, trying to work up the nerve to move.
Half an hour ago, he’d told himself getting to the kitchen was the hard part. To make it easier, he’d pulled up his favourite album on his comms to give him something else to focus on. That had made him feel marginally better. For a few seconds.[...]
It would barely take any energy[...]It would take creds, though. And if he ate it now, that would be one less can of soup he’d have later, meaning he would have to get groceries even sooner. He couldn’t even muster up the energy to think about going to the store. Walking through all the aisles, trying to figure out what he could afford and what he’d actually use was hard on a good day, and he hadn’t had one of those in a while."How can one little can of soup cause so much anxiety? Find out in Juno Steel and the Kitchen Crisis! (kjfghdkj ok im being silly its basically Juno having a panic attack or two about food and creds and life itself <3)
